Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

My only point was that the fact that a team SHOWS interest in a player does not necessarily mean they HAVE interest. I wasn't trying to compare Oregon to Notre Dame. That's not really a fair comparison until ND figures out how to win a bowl game.

Check. I get your point now -- and agree.

Browns looking for two key players
Monday, March 5, 2007
By STEVE DOERSCHUK

BEREA The Marshall Plan must wait.

"It's a fluid situation," new Browns offensive line coach Steve Marshall said of his evolving unit, to which two more key players still might be added.

News about the return of right tackle Ryan Tucker is encouraging.

"Ryan has been working very hard," Marshall said. "I coached his brother Rex at Texas A&M. Ryan has been a very competent player in this league for a long time.

"We expect him to come in and be a big part of this offense."

How certain is Marshall that Tucker can come back from a season in which he lost seven games to a mental disorder?

"I'm certain he will be here to work out (today)," Marshall said. "Ryan's telling me he's gonna be healthy, wealthy and wise and feeling good about life."

Clements was apparently offered 6 yrs/64 million from the Browns with 18 Mill guaranteed. SF then re-upped their offer to the 8 yrs/80 million with 22 Mill guaranteed.

For a much as I would have liked to see Clements here, especially the homer in me, that is too much for him. Yeah he is a helluva back, but that is ridiculous. Just imagine how much Denver (or whoever) will be paying for Champ Bailey when his contract comes up, or the Falcons for DeAngelo Hall?

I believe Champ just restructured his contract to open up some cap space... but he's due to make about 30 mil over 5 years.

Jaguars agree to deal with WR Northcutt

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 4, 2007) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars believe they found a legitimate deep threat in free agency, agreeing to a five-year contract with former Cleveland receiver Dennis Northcutt.

Northcutt was flying to Jacksonville for a physical and was expected to sign the deal March 5.

The contract was reportedly worth $17 million and included a $4.5-million signing bonus.

Northcutt had 276 receptions for 3,438 yards and 11 touchdowns in seven years with the Browns. He caught 117 passes for 1,535 yards and four touchdowns during the 2003-04 seasons. His production dipped the last two years with 64 receptions for 669 yards and two scores.
