I’ve had some laughs at the expense of Texas A&M and Penn St over the years, but Clemson message board posters are making me recalibrate my definition of a bona fide cult. These people are really fucking weird about Saint Dabo.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised by a fan base that thinks taking a bus to your own stadium, rubbing a doorstop that has no history tied to your state or university or culture, then running down a hill is the greatest tradition in sports.

I think this was always bubbling underneath the surface with this crazy ass fan base. Clemsoning always kept them humble, but when St. Deshaun and St. Trevor won them titles, not only did the smugness come out, but the holier than thou, we're better than you Evangelical Bible Belt rose into the mainstream as well. That religious stance was almost always there, but no one knew about, because no one gave a damn about Clemson, other than when they had their annual loss to a team they should've beaten.

Living in SC and having three (four if you count the son-in-law) Clemson grads in the family I can absolutely believe this is not a troll ....

That said, let's not compare these zealots to those pedos in Happy Valley. Our non-rival is a very special type of cult with a special place in hell waiting for them .....
