Reds actually have a good chance at catching the Padres for the wild card, considering the schedule for both teams. Padres have like 25 games against serious playoff contenders the rest of the season, while the Reds have 6.

Tatis may be looking down the barrel of shoulder surgery as well. When the Padres go 11-14 in these 25 because they have to play the Dodgers and Giants a lot, and the Reds go 16-9 in their toughest 25, because they really only have two tough series left, you'll see. I may even be overestimating how many wins the Padres will get.

I feel for Castillo. He has been pitching like a Cy Young award winner since the start of June, but his record doesn't show it. He had three straight starts where he gave up 1 run or less - that includes unearned runs - and didn't pick up a win in any of those starts. The Kansas City game in particular was unfair to him, as Castillo threw 7 innings of 1-run ball, left with a good lead and clearly deserved to win, but the bullpen imploded. One of these days Luis Castillo is gonna charge his own bullpen like Amir charging the Pirates dugout.
Been on fire since June and has five no decisions and a loss in quality starts, and they almost blew another today.
