Tyreek Hill calls out Eli Apple ahead of Dolphins-Bengals game: 'I owe you, boy'
Thursday Night Football is shaping up to be a showdown this week between Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple. When reporters informed Hill that the 3-0 Dolphins are set to play the 1-2 Bengals on Thursday, the former Oklahoma State star harkened back to last season’s AFC Championship Game, where he battled with Apple throughout the game as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
“That’s going to be lit,” Hill said of the impending matchup on Amazon Prime. “I’m looking forward to the challenge. It’s going to be fun. I can’t wait to go against Eli Apple. I owe you, boy. I owe you. I’m here. The cheetah is here. Let’s eat.”
Hill may be looking to exact revenge for a particular play from the AFC title game. With Kansas City up 21-10 in the second quarter, Apple made a crucial open-field tackle on Hill, preventing him from scoring and stretching the Chiefs’ lead to three scores at halftime. The Bengals came back in the second half, winning the game, 27-24, earning a trip to the Super Bowl.

Cincinnati Bengals DBs say they have Eli Apple's back for matchup with Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins
On Tuesday, Bengals safety Jessie Bates III said Apple has the support of his teammates.
"(If) somebody comes after Eli, he comes after all of us," Bates said. "We're all up for the challenge."
The veteran safety said that he wasn't surprised with Hill's comments about Apple.
"I don't know if Eli got him tickets to the Super Bowl last year or not," Bates said. "I think that's probably why he's a little upset."
On the final play of the first half of the AFC title game in Kansas City, Apple tackled Hill short of the goal line, preventing Kansas City from extending its 21-10 lead. Cincinnati completed the comeback and eventually won the game in overtime 27-24, clinching the franchise's first Super Bowl berth since 1989.
"It must have still been in his head a little bit, obviously, if he brought it up," Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton told reporters. "We're not with all the talking. We're just going to go out there and handle our business on Thursday."
