Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

Well, that's enough for me. This OL is bad, Burrow has visibly quit on the team, and the defense can't even do their job against awful offenses. All my friends tried to get me all excited after tying it up and I had no emotion, they were surprised. I'm just like we'll fuck it up somehow and even if not, this team is tragically bad. Burn it down and start over has never come so early.

Just saw a horrific stat...Burrow has been sacked 13 times in the first two weeks. The rest of the AFC North QBs combined have been sacked 8 times. That's how bad it is.
That is inexcusable. You have a young franchise QB and tons of weapons around him but you're putting him behind a swing gate OL. If I were Joey B I'd tell them "fuck off, I ain't playing til you get me some blockers" or "fuck you, trade me." He's going to get folded in half before September ends.

I'm with you, I would be done if I was Joe...it's his future health and it's in serious jeopardy. I cannot imagine worse protection from an OL.

They went out and paid big $ for OL. For those of you who have been able to watch the first two games, what is the issue. Poor teamwork? Not playing to potential? Or something else?

I seriously have no idea. Cappa and Karas are solid veterans a long ways away from being past their prime, but are getting routinely beat. Jonah was a solid, albeit not elite LT, now he can't even get his hands on an edge rusher. Collins had reports of laziness and being out of shape, he is lazy with a capital L A Z Y and isn't even trying to block, or he's just been drunk or high for the first two games. Volson is just a rookie, yet looks like the least liability on the OL so far. If that sounds like hyperbole, it seriously is not...the OL is blocking air every play and nearly the entire defense gets through unabated. The OL could all just fall down at the snap and it would be better because then at least the defenders have to jump over them. To me it has to be everything, meaning bad coaching, not enough time to gel, and not playing to potential. The more plausible explanation might be that the Bengals OL is forever haunted. Whatever it is, I can't see this getting fixed and it's going to be a rough year.

None of the OL playing any preseason outside of Volson hasn’t helped, not because they are rusty, but because they have no experience playing together in live games. Collins had a back injury which further complicated things. It’s a severe lack of cohesion together because I’m confident Cappa and Collins can both be a massive improvement once they start to mesh together. I figured there would be some growing pains to start the season. I didn’t think it’d be this bad, but I still think they’ll figure it out and the offense will get back to what they did best last season.

Agreed 100% that Cappa and Karras should be improvements on the interior OL, and I actually think Volson will come along. But I am very concerned at the tackle position...Jonah has no excuse and is getting torched, and Collins even with the preseason injury is playing atrociously. Collins is repeatedly crashing down on what should be pass pro in what only seems to be an attempt to avoid the best edge defender (Watt last week, Parsons this week)...like seriously, it looks like he is deliberately ignoring them coming off the edge on passing downs. I was elated to get Collins in FA, now he is our biggest liability on the OL.

Good news though is the entire AFC North lost last week, so perhaps we can find ourselves soon and find a way into the playoffs through a divisional crown somehow. But what seemed to be a lock for a 2-0 start is 0-2 and the chances of making the playoffs after an 0-2 start are historically very low, so not really getting my hopes up.
