Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

Lattimore and Hooker available and we take Ross. I hope Ross has a breakout season, and he will have the opportunity to do so with all of the attention Green will get. But I just don't know if I like passing up on two starter-ready secondary players while also knowing there will be talent at WR available in the second and possibly the third.

Jury is out on this one.

While I don't hate the pick, that was just too high for Ross...if we would have traded back to the 15-25 range and take him, then I probably would have been ok with it. However, there were going to be some good WR's available in the second and you just cannot pass up Barnett, Allen, Hooker and Lattimore when we got absolutely gifted those options by the bone-headed picks ahead of us. Hell, I would have even gone O.J. Howard over Ross as an offensive weapon. I truly do get that Ross could be electric in the slot and we need help for Green, but I also think one hit from an NFL safety or linebacker and it could be a career ended. Through on top of it that we have had great success in rounds 2-4 in the past at the WR position, plus the early run on WR's (I would have liked Davis or Williams here if available), and you just wait until the next round.

Draft:
  • 1st Round: DE - would love Solomon Thomas or Derek Barnett here (assuming no chance Allen drops but if he does, jizz your pants and get him immediately)

Or you pick the guy who has shredded both knees over the past couple years.

WR is absolutely a position of need... but Jonathan Allen, Derek Barnett, Malik Hooker were all much better players available at positions of equal or greater need. We didn't need to go get a WR1 at 9. We needed to get a great defender, and then get a WR2 in the 2nd.

Not a bad pick. Hopefully he did a lot of growing the last few years. Never was sold on Hill, this pick addresses that.

Not sure I'm wild about drafting two offensive players with the first two picks, but gaining a 4th rounder in the process certainly makes up for the lack of defensive picks so far. Not sure there was anyone worth taking with the 41st or 48th. I would assume they had their eye on McDowell, but went off the board pretty quickly. Now let's just hope Kwon drops to the Bengals with the 3rd Round pick.

Are the two Ohio pro football teams even aware that they are a caricature at this point?

I cannot cheer for a team that has PacMan, Burfict, and adding Mixon for the fucking dirtbag trifecta.

Fuck this franchise.

That's exactly what I came in here to say. Does this franchise literally want to be hated by everyone, including its own fans? I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this point but this still somehow blows my mind. Not only should every NFL team pass on this piece of shit as a general principle, we didn't need an RB. I think Hill is slightly above average and Gio has injury issues, so while I don't think we're stacked at that position, it was far from our most immediate need. Any of an interior OL, DE, LB or S would have been a good pick there, but no, we trade back to get to get a woman beater for a fucking 4th round pick. And then we follow it up in the 3rd with the right position but with some guy I've never even heard of. I can't even do this anymore.

Personally really like both the Willis and Lawson picks. Think those guys are both very high potential pass rushers, which is clearly our biggest un-addressed need at this point in the draft. They're both a bit undersized for 4-3 DEs, but that's where I'm assuming both will start vs. LB.

Would love to see us continue to address defense and OL over the next couple of picks. Couple of DTs on the board I like that should be available in that range (Brantley + Charles Walker), Desmond King from Iowa as depth at both CB and S. LB is still a big need but not sure who we would grab there.
