Cincinnati Bengals (2011 Season)

This is great! Gotta love Brown finally making these moves...the Bengals win either way with this move.

How smart do the Bengals look now? Instead of making a kneejerk trade on Palmer, they wait...Palmer has to sit and do nothing for half a season, and then they still get just as much as they ever could have gotten, if not more.

Much, MUCH more than anticipated. 2 1st rounders for a QB who may or may not be past his prime? I'll take it. Sets the Bengals up PERFECTLY for the future. They can use those picks to solidify the O-Line and Secondary.

+1.. I am almost flabbergasted..this is a legitimate front office move that we haven't been used to in well... ever. Solid move Mikey.

Well, don't get ahead of yourself. It's a 2012 first rounder, and a 2013 second rounder. For it to be a first rounder in 2013 the Raiders would have to win a playoff game this year, and I don't really see that happening. I'd much rather root for the Raiders to collapse, get a good first round pick in 2012, and then a second in 2013.

Grand larceny.

Even if the pick is a 2nd rounder in 2013, we still just got 2 first or second round picks for a guy who wasn't ever going to play for us again. Although I agree with JXC that I would probably prefer a Raider collapse with a high 2012 first rounder.

Indeed he hasn't looked the same since the knee injury. Isn't likely even in shape to play and the raiders dangle some stupid high compensation like that? It was too stupid of a deal for even Mike Brown to pass up.

We've snagged some gems in the 2nd round. I'm content with that.

That 2nd becomes a first in 2013 if the Raiders win a playoff game this season.

Carson Palmer "retiring" is the best thing to happen to the Bengals in years. Dalton looks like a keeper, and now they have the draft picks.

Best trade they've made since they traded away Pete Johnson at the end of his career for James Brooks who was just entering his prime.

Make no mistake about it, though...if the old CBA had still been in affect Mike Brown still doesn't make this trade...no way would he pay that kind of 1st round draft pick money which is why he turned down the Redskins offer for Chad three years ago.

How often is it that two blind pigs simultaneously find acorns - together?

I know, I know..... We've gone nowhere fast for... well 40 years  but I like the organizational moves Mike Brown has made. When he finally cut ties with Brat, it was a new page almost.
