Cincinnati Bengals (2011 Season)

Well...we're in it. Regardless of the loss (where we got absolutely screwed by the refs), we have played well against elite competition for the most part, except for the one blowout loss to Pittsburgh. I really like the matchup against the Texans, I truly believe we are going to pull it off on the road.

then we get freakin easy game in the divisional round against some scrub named Brady, bring on the AFC Title game!!

The only teams I feel confident in beating are Houston and Denver, so the fact we get Houston makes me feel good about our chances. I feel like we could beat New England however, because their D is so bad. If we don't get pressure like yesterday we won't beat anyone though.

Well, they did better than I expected. In reality they are about a .500 team. They beat the bad teams, and they lost to the good ones.

The plus is they got the 17th pick out of Palmer and a likely 2nd rounder next year. If they can get some interior line help, another CB, and a RB in the draft that all contribute next year they could move up to being a good team.

On a side note, I love the Raiders forum. It's amazing how much some guys are talking about Palmer leading them to the SB next year and how the Raiders are going to pick up big name free agents. Right now they are $10 million over the cap for next year (the only worse team is the Steelers), have no draft picks in the first 4 rounds (I think they might get a 3rd and 4th comp pick), and Palmer's stats continue to go down. That team is in serious trouble. They need to dump salary while everyone else will be adding, and they will have very few top 100 picks the next 2 years.

Speaking of the draft (strictly a Bengals fan's habit in January)...what kind of running backs are we looking at mid-late first round with one of our first round picks? I really like LaMichael James (not sure where he projects with injuries) and Monte Ball. Love Richardson, but I am assuming he is projected as a top 10 overall. Maybe a sleeper second round pick with Polk from Washington?

Trent Richardson is probably top 10, but who know after workouts. It's all subject to change, but right now the Bengals will have no shot at him. Lamar Miller from Miami is next. He is late 1st, early second. Same with Montee Ball. Polk is probably a 2nd rounder, but most likely gone by the Bengals pick. James is late 2nd, early 3rd along with David Wilson from VT. Yet I am not sold on James or Wilson as a feature back.

Unless they can pick up a good free agent, it's a huge need. Benson sucks, and Scott cannot carry a full workload. I agree those others are needs, but RB is a huge hole right now. They can actually get by at LB (especially if they can resign some of the current ones), and a safety would be nice. Yet I think a G, CB, and RB are the key needs that have to be addressed. Such glaring weaknesses at those positions. I would like to see the best G or CB with the first pick (probably CB), then Ball or Miller with the second. Then use the second rounder on interior line, and another one on a G or C in the third (probably with the comp pick). The other third could be LB or S. They could also do something crazy and actually spend some of the 50 million or so of free cap space they have next year (of course some of that will be used up by resignings and the draft).

thank god you don't run the draft

you need a good o-line to be able to have a good RB, we don't have that, any RB is not worth 2 1st rounders...in a passing league, that's too much to spend for a RB that will give you maybe 6-7 good years at the best

CB & OL are my top 2 positions of need for this team.

Then RB, S & LB (not real thrilled with what we've gotten out of that LB position) depending on how the draft falls

so i care little about the nfl in general, but im gonna be cheering for the Bengals in the playoffs over the Texans...

mainly for the Longhorns on the roster and im a fan of Andy Dalton (TCU is less than 5 minutes away from my house)

I didn't grow up in Cincinnati but I live here now.
Cities are ALWAYS more fun when there are teams in the playoffs. I'm cheering for the Bengals on Saturday and my Falcons on Sunday.
