Cincinnati Bengals (2011 Season)

I agree we need to target the secondary first, but I'd prefer a safety. If Hall comes back healthy, along with Jones and potentially Clements, I think we can get by. However, Crocker and Wilson have been mediocre at best...I would love to get a safety if possible. The entire secondary is pretty weak right now though, don't get me wrong. But I see RB as a huge need...I like Smith and Whitworth at tackle, Cook is decent and Boling will be good once he is healthy. That is enough to draft a RB first round and pick up a good interior OL late 2nd (quality interior linemen are easier to pick up later imo).

I would like to see us go:

-17th overall (1st rd): CB/S (Barron, Kirkpatrick or Claiborne would be great)
- Other 1st round pick/2nd round pick: OG (DeCastro, Glenn or Osemele)
- Other 1st round pick/2nd round: RB (James, Miller, Wilson, Polk or Cyrus Gray)

Pittsburgh is going to lose some old players this offseason (they're way over the cap) and Baltimore has some old stars, too. The future is bright for Cincinnati after getting playoff experience this year with their young team.

History suggests they'll fuck it up somehow, though. We'll see.

THIS. I agree that the future is definitely bright. My biggest issue is the fact that, even this year, these Bengals lack discipline.

I can't tell you how many 12 men in the huddle, offsides, false start, holding, delay of game, unnecessary personal foul calls that have gone against the Bengals, but that number is quite alarming.

I was calling for Marvin's head last year, and my tone won't change again this year. Yes, despite the fact that he got this team to the playoffs, I want him gone. He's a horrid play challenger to boot.

Marvin coaches teams have always had discipline issues...he also doens't know what to challenge calls at the right times...

I agree a few posts above me, gotta go safety, reggie nelson can't stop a run play, they all just suck...need a Guard badly, not even Adrian Peterson would get yards with this o-line

if LeMichael James is there in RD 2, get him

Agreed. If the Bengals do draft a RB, my choice is LaMichael James.

Bengals WR Jerome Simpson indicted on marijuana trafficking charge
COVINGTON, Ky. — Cincinnati Bengals receiver Jerome Simpson was indicted on Thursday for marijuana trafficking, leaving him subject to a jail sentence and punishment from the NFL.

A Kenton County grand jury indicted the four-year veteran on one count of marijuana trafficking in excess of 8 ounces, a felony count that carries up to five years in jail. He’s scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 30.

...

Simpson has been under investigation since September, when agents from California tracked a package shipped to the receiver’s home in northern Kentucky. They said it contained 2 ? pounds of marijuana. No charges were filed at that time.

Simpson’s girlfriend accepted the package at the home, said Michelle Gregory, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Justice. Teammate Anthony Collins was visiting Simpson’s home at the time, but was cleared of any involvement.

A search of Simpson’s home also turned up 6 more pounds of marijuana, smoking pipes and scales, authorities said.
