Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

Cincinnati stadium getting renovated for 2015 season

The University of Cincinnati will renovate Nippert Stadium following the 2013 season, and the $80 million project should be ready for the start of the 2015 season. Nippert is one of the oldest stadiums in the country, and will turn 100 when the project is completed in 2015. The stadium will hold approximately 40,000 after it is completed. The Bearcats tried to use the stadium renovation plans as an incentive for other conferences to extend them an invitation, but they will continue in the American Athletic Conference (former Big East) for the foreseeable future.

Hear me now and believe me later; sooner or later the taxpayers of Ohio will need to step in and bail out the financial mess that clown college is creating in their self-destructive quest to turn themselves into Ohio State.

Co-flagship my ass. They are the clown flagship.

Yes I know this is an old story; however, in true Cincinnati Bearcrap tradition not only do their players get arrested, but so does their mascot.

Bearcat mascot detained

According to reports, the Cincinnati Bearcat mascot was detained by University of Cincinnati Police during Saturday?s game against Pittsburgh after failing to comply with their requests.

During the second quarter of Saturday?s game, the Bearcat mascot was spotted throwing snowballs into the crowd. The act was deemed by police to be one that could compromise the crowd?s safety. The mascot failed to comply with police orders to cease throwing the snowballs, and was taken into custody. During that time he reportedly shoved a police officer to the ground and was then forcefully apprehended by police.

At this time, the mascot is in custody and being booked on unknown charges.

Ohio Stadium : 2,500 additional seats
Cost: $9 Million

Nippert Stadium: 5,000 additional seats
Cost: $86 Million

FWIW it's my understanding that the Nippert expansion is essentially already paid for by preselling the club seats.

More expensive yes, however Nippert Stadium's new box seats with be much more luxurious with a special built in "functional feature". As long as you keep the door open you won't miss any action during a restroom break.

A clown flagship actually sounds kinda fun.

It's a nifty stadium with good to great sight lines almost anywhere, beer available on the premises and they've been very generous with allowing high school's to use their facilities - unlike Mikey Boy Brown, who holds the keys to a PUBLIC financed stadium, makes little to no effort to improve the product, and acts like he owns the place.

The sad part is the collapse of the Big East leaving UC with a conference that makes no geographical sense. They have fought against the commonsense reality to accept membership in the MAC and sooner or later they're going to have to go to the MAC with hat in hand.

And they'd be one of the better teams in the MAC, which is nice.

I will say that I really enjoy their stadium setting. It is very unique. It just isn't a big time stadium.

I got the same impression when I went to the Syracuse game last year.
Nice place to see a game, just not a crazy gameday atmosphere. Tailgating was easy and cheap and it was easy to get in and out of the parking areas.

Urban stadiums have a place in College football, Nippert reminded me of Georgia Tech's stadium.
