An open letter to Bearcat fans,

Folks, you got a 35,000 seat stadium, slightly above MAC level facilities, a fickle alumni association, a fanbase that stretches across three counties and then disappears, an endowment fund that rivals Oberlin and Denison, a history of coaches moving on to better jobs, zip for a TV contract, and you're tied to a city with an NFL team. Be grateful that you can find rising coaches now and then and fill in with the Tubervilles and Satterfields of this world in between .

Well, if you lived in a town where the pro football and baseball teams were happy with jus short of mediocrity for long stretches, where the university enabled an alcoholic basketball coach to hang around, and where Tommy Tubervill took pay checks under false pretenses of actually working, you might understand where that tweet came from.

Deion Sanders was on Rich Eisens show a couple weeks back - they were at NFL Network together for seven years and are very close friends - and told a story he says he never told anybody before. Back during Prime Times first cup of coffee with the Reds, he fell in love with Cincinnati and wanted to live there permanently. He says he even picked out a plot of land to build a house. He literally did not care the Bengals had imploded after their 1991 playoff run and were terrible, he wanted to be a Red and a Bengal. His agent and his own team made multiple calls to the Bengals, and Mike Brown never called them back.
