Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

He's certainly a good position coach, but recruiting Cincinnati kids to go to OSU and play for Urban Meyer is (or should be) the easiest job on the planet. That [Mark May] just sells itself.
Recruiting Cincy kids to go to UC can be as easy with the right coach.... And recruiting Cincinnati to play for Tressel was a rough go

Word on the street is that it's either going to be Fleck or Combs. I thought Fleck was out of reach, but it looks like Oregon is not interested. UC could be a good stepping stone for Fleck to move up to the P5. Everybody is talking about Combs, but does anyone even know if he'd want the job?

I also thought that there was no way that Fleck would come to UC, I figured that he'd wait until the end of the season to see if another better position opened up. But compared to WMU, UC is a step ahead towards getting a higher profile position. And I honestly don't know if Coombs was interested in the position as much as UC fans wanted him to be, and outside fans thought that he would be.

Do you know why that was? Did Tressel have a bad rep with the local HS coaches or something?
Idk if Tressel had a bad rep or was just more comfortable recruiting Northern OH since he was so entrenched in Youngstown. Also, idk if it just had to do with timing and during his tenure maybe players in Cincy weren't rated up to his standards as players from throughout OH. But I know it did leave a number of Cincy HS coaches with a bad taste in their mouths about OSU for a while until Urban came. It also helped that Urban lived and had history in Cincinnati and also hired a Cincinnati HS football legend in Coombs.

How about Lincoln Riley?
He might be in line for a Power 5 job soon, not sure he'd want to toil in faygoville, when he could wait another year and possibly get Texas Tech or something similar. I'm surprised his name hasn't popped up in Houston's search. They aren't power 5, but it's a much better job than the juggalos. Plus, he seems like a natural fit.
