It's a stupid argument to be having anyway. It should be decided on the field, but isn't. There are probably 10 teams in the country that would be favored over Cincinnati and would beat them on paper. Ohio State would be one of them. But they won't get a shot at them, or a shot at the NCG, so it's still pretty bogus.
I'm glad that Oklahoma lost in 2002, or else they would have played Miami FL, and we would have been on the outside looking in because of our 'unimpressive wins'. Instead we 'get lucky' to play in the championship game by something happening that was completely out of the teams control. They get their shot at Miami, FL, who on paper, everyone said was a better team. Look what happened.
Maybe some of you find these arguments fun, but to me they are only fun if we finally get an answer at the end of a season. The arguments suck when we are left at the end of a season with a big what if.
I feel bad for any team's fans when they watch their team win all their games, but don't get to go to the national championship. I'm glad we didn't have to deal with that in 2002, or else Columbus likely would have been burnt down

and rightfully so.
I used to be all for the bowl system, but with all the parody that we now have in college football, we need a playoff.
And it must be nice for Cincinnati's defense to play it's worst game of the year, and still win.
Championship teams don't need great defense and great offense every week. What they need is for their offense to step up when the defense has on off-day, and for their defense to step up when their offense has an off-day. Great TEAM efforts win championships. I think 2002 taught me that more than anything. Glad that the system was fair
that year.
