She was an avid Ohio State basketball fan and could talk the game as well as any of us. I don't remember how they became friends, but they spoke often on the phone and it seemed like a lot after Minnesota. When he moved on to running the golf course, that ended. I got invited to the annual basketball camp in Bainbridge a couple of times and to roam the sidelines at Ohio State games for a while with my camera (found some of those shots the other day in the garage).

Anyone who says a coach can’t run a VERY competitive program at tOSU has a seriously flawed view of reality

It’s Ohio State

Gimme a freaking break

Good gracious people. We have a HUGE alumni base and the school is based in a thriving community that has shown they love Ohio State sports.

Are you telling me a perennially ranked top 25 team won’t attract and maintain a loyal following?

Get serious

A good coach can not only win here but thrive.

Any other attitude is ridiculous

I didn’t attend tOSU

I am not even from Ohio

I have extended family from Ohio and a few have played football at
OSU and I fell in love with the whole sport somewhere around Eddie George time and that love has continued to grow. And BECAUSE of that, I love all OSU sports.

Anyone who says it’s “just a football school” is totally missing something.

Sure, the proud history of football pulls people in. But once they are in, they will support the other teams because

a) they love tOSU

b) they are sports fans and some will also support other sports

So football doesn’t limit other sports potential, it just adds to the eye balls who may turn into a supporter of other sports that ARE ACTUALLY COMPETITIVE.

Just win baby.

Our get the fuck out. That’s just the way it is.

Someone who knew how to win at collegiate sports once said they “are very evaluation friendly” ie: are you winning or not?

If you don’t win, you gotta go.

It’s that simple. And saying there is anything emanating out of C-Bus that limits the potential of a coach is just loser talk.

The writing has been on the wall since that putrid Oral Roberts loss. Coach Holt was a great ambassador and seems like a great person but the program's energy has been dead for a while.

Looking back on his tenure I'll remember that Keita Bates Diop led comeback against Purdue on the road and the win in Coach K's funeral season as highlights.

Looking forward to being excited by Buckeye hoops again.

2008 NIT we played - Cal I think - a game at St Johns. Most awesome time I've ever had at a buckeye basketball game.
