Chris Holtmann (ex-tOSU Bball coach, HC at DePaul)

An NBA name I like - Ronald Nored. Former Butler star born in Indy but grew up in Alabama before returning to the state to play for Brad Stevens.

Pretty much immediately entered coaching ranks after college. He was always a coach on the floor anyway.

Only done a cup of coffee in college so he probably has NBA head coach aspirations.

Oh and Scoonie Penn is helping in the NBA too. At this point (like I even said a year ago)…do your worst, it can’t be any different than Holtmann.

Edit - why not Anthony Grant down the road at Dayton?

YEESH! The Lantern's Sam Becker wrote about Chris Holtmann on Thursday. In a rare opinion piece from Ohio State's independent student newspaper, Becker called for a change of leadership for the Ohio State men's basketball team.

Seeing a guy at the end of his tenure and who clearly has lost his team is rough to watch. I feel bad for the guy.

Put him out of his misery. Fire the guy for Pete’s sake. Show some mercy.

It is sad, he genuinely seems like a great guy and I think can be a very good coach in the right situation (MAC-esque). We just have no one able to step up to coach in this final stretch, which is another pretty damning reflection of Holtmann. Your staff at OSU has to be much, much better than it is.

He does seem like a good guy, but there is some certain mentality missing. The teams start strong and then it gets figured out and exploited. Plus the mindset is downtrodden by January. The talent is there, but the discipline is not. Time to move on.

I had the same thought. The thing is, firing him before the season is over doesn’t really benefit anyone other than him. I wonder if he repeats $10.5M under his breath every game as he walks out from the locker room.
