Chris Holtmann (ex-tOSU Bball coach, HC at DePaul)

I was in the row with the guy filming that -- at the far end of the row and sitting beyond the guy at the very beginning who was standing in a red jacket/hat combo. It didn't get any better from that video. Definitely not a case of a late-arriving crowd, it was a not-arriving crowd. And those of us that did bother to show up didn't really give a shit because we knew exactly how it was going to go.

Knowing that Gene was there at the game I was trying desperately to find the box he was in so I could go harangue him and hopefully get my ass thrown out of the arena.
Yo Gene…Fungo here let’s talk picnic tables if you know what I mean

ELEVEN DUBCAST: CHRIS HOLTMANN SEES HIS WINTER SHADOW, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CONTINUES SURGE OF SUCCESS, AND BILL O'BRIEN BOUND FOR BOSTON COLLEGE?

145370_h.jpg

Just call him "Punxsutawney Chris" or "Groundhog Holtmann," because Buckeye fans have six more weeks of road losses to look forward to at this rate..... :sad2:

Following Ohio State's 15th road loss in a row, Johnny and George discuss the continued downward spiral of the men's basketball team with only four more opportunities remaining this season to snap the streak. This comes as Gene Smith presumably prepares to hand over hiring authority to Ross Bjork during the offseason.

Meanwhile, Thad Matta has Butler pushing for a late bid to the NCAA Tournament in only his second season back in Indianapolis. The contrast in the two programs has simply become too funny to ignore.

Just sayin': There is a word to describe the contract between the 2 programs; but it sure isn't "funny".

Quite frankly, I don't think you wait until the end of the season. He has lost the team. They are soft and leaderless. He is a nice guy, but he is paid to choke the other guys over a game of checkers. Shockingly bad performance in the second half of games. Please make it end and get an early start on the coach you want for next year so you can hold your recruits.

Just sayin': Well, it's started.......Holtmann's coaching problems haven't gone unnoticed....they are writing about possible replacements for Holtmann....

5 coaching candidates Ohio State could pursue if they move on from Chris Holtmann this offseason

It has been a disastrous season on the hardwood for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Projected to compete for an NCAA Tournament appearance and a spot near the top of the Big 10 standings, the Buckeyes have now lost eight of their last nine games and sit with an ugly 3-9 record in conference play – only ahead of Michigan in the standings.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith spoke about Holtmann’s status last week, indicating he won’t make a decision on his future until after the season is over. Still, with every loss this fanbase gets more impatient, and at this point barring a miracle turnaround it seems likely this program will be looking for a new coach this offseason.

So, who might they target? Below is a look at five candidates, four who are currently head coaches, who have the pedigree and connections to the midwest to be viable candidates for Smith and the department to consider as replacements if they do end up moving on from Holtmann.

1. Pat Kelsey
Current: Charleston (16-7)
Record: 250-121 (186-95 at Winthrop, 64-26 at Charleston)

2. Wes Miller
Current: Cincinnati (15-7)
Record: 241-170 (185-135 at UNC-Greensboro, 56-35 at Cincinnati)

3. Will Wade
Current: McNeese State (20-3)
Record: 216-99 (Chattanooga, VCU, LSU, McNeese)

4. Darian DeVries
Current: Drake (18-5)
Record: 140-53

5. Chris Mack
Current: N/A
Record: 278-133 (215-97 at Xavier, 63-36 at Louisville*)
*Mack ran into some issues while at Louisville......

Who do you think should replace Holtmann (or are you for giving him another year....)?

I'm not even going to start speculating until the season is over, but I suspect we'll see more of these articles with each loss.
