Chicago Bears (official thread)

Bears Overreactions: Jim Harbaugh-JJ McCarthy pairing will revive Bears?

With only two games remaining in the 2023 season, the focus on the Bears shifts fully toward the right QB-coach combo to lead them back to prominence

Just sayin': A somewhat amusing article ; however, doesn't the local writer (who claims to be a Bears insider) know that (reportedly ) Kevin Warren despises Jim Harbaugh (and vice versa).....

Report: NFL Team President 'Despises' Jim Harbaugh
"They don't like each other," Schultz said. "In fact, you can say they despise one another based on the comments in the media."

I would love to see this happen for the lulz.

I would if I didn't live here, but having Simple Jim and Spin Pass dominate the local sports news would be exceedingly painful.

And everyone who works with Harbaugh seemingly comes to despise him. Warde Manuel despises him. Ono is an exception solely because I really think he's working through some emotional trauma from childhood and is desperate to be liked and accepted by the athletes and coaches.

I agree with the idea that the Bears will make the wrong choice. It think it's highly likely that 5 years from now, Fields, Williams, and McCarty are all backups with zero star potential.

My thought is if that's the case wouldn't you rather use the picks on a can't miss player like Harrison Jr and whoever the best OT available is with the second first rounder. Fields floor is still higher than other QB's that have won SB's just due to his arm and athletic ability. Maybe he doesn't develop and you don't have to pay him like he's Mahomes. Use some of that money to surround him with talent. As a Browns fan I'd rather have given the Bears the 3 first round picks for Fields than for Watson at this point.

It's sounding more and more like da bears are going to trade Justin, and keep the draft pick. All I hope for is that they trade him to a team that can utilize his skillset. Later on, when all of today's decision makers are long gone, a list will come out, showing which players were drafted before (insert a star here). And will bet that the Bears pick will be on that list.

Draft the best WR prospect in 10+ years.
Draft a LT to keep him alive.

Then if Fields is still broken, you have a great nucleus to put around Ewers. And you could trade down then too, because Quinn is not going top-3.

Bears can keep him now with a 5th year option, or you can sign him to a very budget friendly contract that won't cost you nearly as much as a successful QB would cost.

Or you not do any of that, and see how it goes for a low floor Caleb Williams with no OL and no other WR. He's a QB who is always scrambling into potential negative plays, in order to make the highlight reel play. Justin does not like scrambling, he has to. Caleb adores it. He's the epitome of high risk, high reward.

Just like Shedeur Sanders will be next year as the possible QB1.

The only reason you take Caleb is because you hate Quinn, Shedeur next year and aren't fond of the 2026 class either.

Falcons twitter is shitty their collective pants with glee as apparently Fields followed Jeff Okudah, Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson and the Falcons within the past 4 hours.
