Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

If Touchdown Jesus wanted Charlie Weis stickied to the top of this forum he would've miracled his ass up there.

:slappy:

I can't help but believe that numerous recruits aren't watching him and reevaluating their commitments. Not a single one of these kids has signed a damned thing yet, and if they do choose to go and play for a man like that (and horrible coach to boot), they'll be getting what they deserve because it won't be like they didn't have ample warning.

Which makes this a complete mystery to me:

Oct 21 - Michael Floyd
Oct 22 - Jonas Gray

What am I missing?

No, Weis already told us we have to laugh now, because next year will be different. He plans on winning 2 or 3 games.

Interesting. Weiss has had two "super" recruiting classes and yet we see no super sophs emerging.

San Diego should be an easier start than Georgia Tech, but then Ga Tech has been an ordinary team in a so - so conference.

Michigan loses what has been the core of their offense and their best linebacker and the game is in South Bend.

Purdue loses a ton of talent and the game is in South Bend.

Michigan State... who knows, the lady or the tiger? At least the game is in East Lansing, but that hasn't been much of a help in recent history.

The rest of the schedule is a Sack of Shit (the other SOS) until they hit USC and if the Jarret/Bush housing program ever explodes who knows what they'll be like.

Even with a mediocre performance ND could be 10 - 1 when they hit the coast.

They're already revving up the excuse for when Weis' recruiting starts to fall off. It's not recruits and their families being able to see past the hype to Weis' personality, ability to manage a program, ability to develop talent and coaching ability. It's a conspiracy by ESPN!

My God, this board is the most ridiculous collection of domers on the web. I can read the other two, but that one's just pure frustration.

I love how the one ND alumnus who posted a long thread saying he'd had enough of Charlie on and off the field was immediately accused of being "osu scum."

I don't get it. I know that there are a few cracks beginning to appear in his wall of support but still. They were circulating petitions to get rid of Willingham in the parking lots during games...in the middle of his second season. Seriously, how could the whole nation, after having Weis pushed in our face for almost three full seasons, be wrong about the man and they know something that has somehow escaped the rest of humanity.

I don't see it. If Weis could develop the talent he has and worry about instilling good fundamental football in his teams rather than relying on his NFL bag of tricks, I'd say, "sure." I don't see the slightest ability of him to do that.

I say they go into LA at 6-5 (maybe 7-4) and get blown out by USC. Of course, that will be enough for the Charlie bandwagon to back in full swing and dreams of a NC in '09 to take shape. God, I wished we played them early into the '09 season, in what will be a major rebuilding year for us, and shut down some overrated pre-season top 5 ND team.

"First of all Weis is not going anywhere!!! In three years he has taken us to 2 BCS bowls!!"

Blah, blah, blah... two BCS games, what BS. They're the only team in college football with the chutzpah to demand a BCS berth with a winning record... and get it... and they wonder where the anger comes from...

That's almost as hard to digest as USC insisting that they have won two NCs under Carroll. Go to their trophy case. Count the crystal footballs, translate that into NCs... and the magic number is 1.

"Every coach is going to have a down year!! We did not expect 1 and 8, but we knew it was going to be a rough year!!"

You did? Then how come all we heard was how Twinkie Claussen was going to win four Heisman's and at least three NCs from ND's August fan mail.

Was looking at some of the BCS computer poll data and found this page for one of them.

AndersonSports BCS Rankings: the Anderson and Hester Football Computer Rankings

Rock bottom isn't losing to your two biggest rivals 38-0 in the same season. Or compiling a 1-8 record with 21 HS All Americans. Not even being the team to break a record winning streak vs Navy. No, rock bottom is:
(1-8) Notre Dame falls to #93, behind 92 teams that have the good sense to attempt 41-yard, game-winning field goals
when even the freaking computer dorks are mocking you.

Nice to see you NDC, and I think we all figured as much. Sure there's people I have seen who still say "this is all Ty/Bobs fault." Most fans I know though were just shellshocked yesterday, unable to really say anything beyond "why didn't he at least try for the field goal?"

Still though, I think you are stuck with him for at least a few more years, he's alumni, they got so much shit over the Ty firing and that contact means you should probably have the entrances to the stadium widened so tubby can get in and out as he expands.
