Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

I have to retract my post.

I was just over at the ND board and the consensus is that the academic standards at ND are so tough (at least compared to schools like OSU) that many of these kids just can't handle school and football.

There are no problems at ND. Repeat - none. Everything is fine.

My bad.

 Robert Hughes. Or the guaranteed acceptance into business school for a number of recruits.

Actually, ND may be giant killers this weekend. Anything less than 300 yards & 3 tds from Ryan might cost him the heisman.

According to the ND posters, this is all about Charlie separating the wheat from the chaff. Of course, I didn't have the heart to tell them that they can't really bitch about the lack of depth that Ty left them if they are so willing to watch Charlie run off players left and right.

Would that be Weis saying to his own recruiting classes - you're just NOT good enough?

Maybe in two more years we can watch their boards tell us about Weis 1.0 - who went early on for all those 4 and 5 star prima donnas, but now they have new improved Super-Sized Weis 2.0 - with whom all the recruits are above average.

How can anybody this side of the Sun Belt argue that their 1-5 train wreck contains wheat or has players they can afford to run off? Particularly their starting left chaff.
Heck thats easy to do Oh8ch. The more kids that Charlie wants to get rid of because they don't or no longer measure up to his standards the more they can bring in on schollie. In their minds they could think "why waste a schollie for the next 2 or 3 years when we can get rid of him and try someone new. Of course that would mean that Weis is lower than whale shit but..........

Actually there is the 25 limit BB.

And ND is creeping mighty close to that already.

ND wanted to even out their classes.

With all the departures that simply isn't going according to the grand plan.

The best laid plans ....
But it remains that if one leaves they then have a schollie for another , true?

This is the 4th transfer from Charlie's vaunted first class (ranked #5). Carufel was ND's 7th best recruit overall (Reuland #1, Fraser #5, Jones high on rivals).DT Omar Hunter is thought to be considering USC. Too bad Filer & McCarthy aren't easily swayed. DE Johnson would be nice given OSU's current DE hunt.

I heard Hunter was also looking at Florida, and (on a non-homeristic note) I would hope Michigan because they were a major player for him until ND swooped in and snagged him.

Not sure if anyone caught Chuckles' post-game press conference, but he commented about being proud of the 4th and 1 call and "patting himself on the back for that call."

Now my first thought is to immediately attempt to visualize how Fat Bastard could even get close to patting himself on the back, then my thoughts turned to the comment itself. Seriously, what kind of a coach--what kind of a man--goes to a post game press conference after his team gets pasted for the 6th time in 7 games, and talks about what he did right. Once again, it just shows that, in his mind, this is all about Charlie. It's not about the players, the program or the school, nor is it about defense and fundamentals. It's about Charlie and his genius schematic advantage.
