one would like to think that an athletic program so esteemed would be above this. obviously, it is well below this.

oh, if ntre ame thinks that not letting other players out of their scholarships would be a good thing, they have quite another thing coming. i'm thinking titanic here (in your world, there should be a capital 't' there). just imagine if another player tries to leave, and ntre ame won't let him out of the scholarship. of course, in this situation, the player just tells the program first. if the domers won't let the player out of his scholarship, all hell will break loose and the program's head will be on the chopping block.

the current situation may become legal.

What complete fucking scumbags these people are. They do know that Jones comes from a very poor inner city background. How the hell is he going to get the money to pay his own tuition while playing D1 football--essentially a full time job.

They, however, are true that his departure was not handled properly--BY NOTRE DAME AND FAT BASTARD. Charlie Weis was the one who lied to and misled Jones only to tell the press that he never really had a shot at the starting job.

I haven't been too quick to apply the racist tag over the handling of the Willingham situation, but I'm ready now. Notre Dame is a flat out hypocritical, racist institution. I can damn well guarantee you that ND would not be treating a middle class white kid from the Chicago Catholic schools in the same manner that they're trying to ruin the life of a poor black kid from the Chicago Public Schools.

I'd love to see the Chicago Public Schools coaches (most of whom are AA) come together and institute a ban on Notre Dame recruiting their players. I'm not sure that it's legal or feasible, but I'd certainly think it's worth discussion.
