Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

I'm not entirely convinced that Jimmy Clausen has a heck of a lot of draft stock to hurt. The guy has shown a penchant for shitting the bed in the face of pressure. If you think pro scouts haven't noticed that, I've got some swamp land to sell you.

I would have agreed most of last year and especially his freshman year, but I think he's had an excellent season this year. From what I've seen he's not throwing pick 6es anymore, he knows when to thrown the ball away, he's better scrambler than he receives credit for. Without him this year's Irish would be in deep kimchee.

True to an extent, but he did take a game-clinching safety last week. Claussen has some draft stock, but I think BQ's failure thus far will also make some scouts weary of the whole ND Weis QB mystique as well.

flatly put its a graveyard, a graveyard that many folks aspire to enter, none the less a graveyard...
BB73 did an excellent job rebutting the "graveyard of coaches" argument, but here is another nail in the coffin of that tired old moniker ... the last three coaches at Ohio State prior to Tressel (Hayes, Bruce, Cooper) are all members of the College Football Hall of Fame, and of course JT will be enshrined there some day. Time to bury the graveyard....

So you're saying that Ohio State is the graveyard of the graveyard of coaches? Interesting...

He threw a backward pass in the Washington game that was picked up and run in for a U-Dub TD. It was a brutal mistake, but since ND won that game because of the goal-line stands, and since virtually none of the national Heisman-stat trackers don't list fumbles (only INTs), he hasn't received much grief at all for what was an atrocious play.

Who cares about that! I am more disturbed by the fact that he seems to have no visible upper lip!! :tongue2:

Woody punched a kid...on the sidelines...on national tv...

Earle lost 3 or more games eight consecutive seasons.

Coop was losing control of his program and was 2-10-1 against his chief rival and 3-8 in Bowls.

Which f the above would not get fired for those reasons at most any prestigious football school?

The "they all got fired" argument is tired. See my post earlier for an argument on that...

I think we all know that Ohio State is a damn tough place to coach because expectations are always ELEVENTY!@!@!.

Ohio State isn't alone in that, but any place where expectations are through the roof, you frequently experience what prior 3 coaches experience. I don't know if that makes ALL top tier jobs graveyards or if it just means that once you get to one of the top programs, there's really no where else to go but retirement or down. Either way, it doesn't change the underlying fact/problem that our expectations are borderline crazy.

Edit: Back to Fat Chuck. Funny thing happens when your program stinks it up for 20 years...expectations DO come down. The majority of ND fans were not demanding/expecting a MNC contender this year, just a BCS birth because of weak scheduling. IMO, not an unreasonable benchmark for ND at this point. So, Chuck - Epic Fail.

Actually I think the Golden Emu has the tools and basic raw talent to probably be a 2nd or 3rd rounder but since he's from Ntre Ame, if he comes out and has a good combine, he might find himself at the tail end of the first round.

It isn't as if the NFL has a slew of good QBs right now. The state of Quarterbacking in the NFL is at an all time low.

So, the moment at the end of the career defines the career, and negates everything that happened beforehand? I don't think so.

The fact remains that the Buckeyes' last four coaches are Hall of Famers, which means that Ohio State is more like a nirvana than a graveyard.

Peyton Manning.
Tom Brady.
Drew Brees.
Ben Roethlisberger.
Kurt Warner.
Donavan McNabb.
Brett Favre.
Philip Rivers.
Carson Palmer.

WTF???

With that said, Charlie Weis is a big fat waste of oxygen.

Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn
David Garrard
Jason Campbell
Whoever is starting in Buffalo this week
Matt Cassell
Chicago (Jay Cutler is a turd)
Denver (Kyle Orton is an even bigger turd)
Both Kurt Warner and Brett Farve are in their 40s and their backups are questionable at best
Matt Hasselback is ok when he's healthy, but he's never healthy and he's in his mid-30s now.
JaMarcus Russell
Jake Delhomme
St. Louis and whoever is starting for Marc Bulger this week

The only two guys (not counting Farve and Warner) who have been effective in the past have been Delhomme and to an extent Garrard, but Garrard needs his running game to work or he's JaMarcus Russell without the extra 150lbs.

Out of the pro prospects, The Golden Emu is a clear 3rd behind Bradford and McCoy, but that might get him into the 1st round. Just saying.

Tony Romo has been 5th, 8th and 9th in passing the last three years, ahead of Donovan McNabb and Carson Palmer each time. Perhaps you've heard of him? :wink2:
