Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

Ray Reitz, who coached Terrelle Pryor in high school in Jeannette, Pa., recently gave the Chicago Tribune a good indication why the Ohio State freshman quarterback isn't playing for Notre Dame.
Reitz described Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis as "arrogant as hell." He noted what Weis said when informed that Pryor might attend a Southern California quarterbacks camp. "Why send him there?" Weis said. "If he's with me for one day, he'll be good; two days he'll be great; and three days he'll be incredible."
Reitz also recalled that Weis said that if Pryor couldn't cut it at quarterback, "we'll use him on the outside," a receiver option that wasn't breached by any of the other schools that recruited him.
"Here's the best part," Reitz told the Tribune. "He says to Terrelle: 'Call me tomorrow at 6. I'll be watching where Brady Quinn gets drafted.' "
Pryor never called.

The bowl game should be interesting, considering the Irish just lost to Syracuse .

Maybe their opponent can spot them a touchdown or two to make things interesting. USC should give them 21 points and see if they can hold onto the lead.

Some great stuff here from Stewart Mandel, read the whole thing, highlights below.

The Sweep: Charlie Weis is done after an unforgivable loss

I think it's now safe to say with no hint of reservation: The Notre Dame-Charlie Weis marriage is officially doomed.

College football's $40 million man got a reprieve for his 3-9 debacle last year because, according to his apologists, it was Tyrone Willingham's fault...

But that was before Notre Dame lost to Syracuse. That's right, folks: Syracuse. Saturday in snowy South Bend, Weis' band of former five-star recruits blew a 23-10 lead and lost to lame-duck coach Greg Robinson's 2-8 Orange...

It's all but assured now that the Irish -- following their inevitable beatdown at USC next week ? will finish their fourth regular season under Weis at 6-6. That is unacceptable. Despite a set of three straight recruiting classes nearly any school in the country would envy, Notre Dame is no better than a low-level Big East team.

Once again, Weis has been exposed as an incompetent college coach, incapable of developing young talent...

Weis, who to this day can't seem to figure out the actual responsibilities of a head coach, took over play-calling duties prior to last week's Navy game due to offensive coordinator Mike Haywood's personal issues. With the former Super Bowl-champion calling the plays Saturday, Notre Dame ran for 41 yards against the nation's 107th-ranked rushing defense.

Does it get any more humiliating than that?...

They can't let this nightmare continue any longer. Or perhaps Weis, himself a loyal Domer, will make it easy on his alma mater, accept his shortcomings, and return to his more comfortable surroundings on an NFL sideline next season.

Either way -- Weis is done.
My personal thoughts...God I hope not...I love watching Chuckles teams stink it up...Please ND, have a heart...give Charlie another chance! :slappy:

Yeouch...

In the end, in may indeed be Ty's fault. Frontbutt had his greatest success, and a fat extension, with Willingham's recruits. Now with his own, he's making Gerry Faust look like Ara...

Don't forget touchdown Jesus. I'm sure it's his fault in some way or Charlie will pin it on him.

And the Pope. Blame the Pope.

Well, the innumerable Domers who cluttered the Gator boards crowing that they did not care that he picked UF, they did not want Urban anyway, as they got the better Coach in Weis, can comfort themselves with the knowledge that they still have a definite schematic advantage. :p

How'd they find time to do that, what, with all the time they seem to spend on Washington Huskies boards....

I think I just realized why I despise Fatass so much.

I hate Weis, the college head coach. I hate the arrogance despite accomplishing nothing, the holier than thou attitude, and the refusal to admit doing anything wrong.

I hate Weis, the person. The grotesque obesity, the blaming of doctorbs when his surgery went wrong, the use of golf-carts to get around instead of walking.

Don't forget his steadfast refusal to carry around a hankie or kleenex on the sidelines.

Hey, let's cut the Cheeseburglar some slack. He has broken some ND records with the epic failure today.

The loss today marks the first time in ND football history that the Domers have lost to a team with 8 or more losses. The loss today also marks the worst 2 year stretch of football in ND football history.

Way to go Cheeseburger Charlie, you record setter you!

I can now see why Domer faithful like NDChief were so high and smug with your hire.

I hope they show him and all three of his fat ass chins the door. I hate him, always have and always will. Pretty much the same reasons as tibor said.

And the fact that he thought Fat Phil and Volunqueers had a better defense than we did.
