Charlie Strong's job at Texas safe through season, source says
After starting the season 2-0, the Longhorns have lost two straight -- to Cal and Oklahoma State -- giving up 99 total points in the two defeats. The loss marked the third time in four games this year that Texas has allowed at least 47 points in a game.

Strong is in the third year of a five-year deal. If fired after the season, he would receive a $10 million buyout.

I'm thinking that Strong is a good coach; but he may not be a good fit at Texas. You should give coach at least 4 years to get his own players into the program; however, these days the rich alumni are not that patient. It wouldn't surprise me to see Texas dump Strong and try to lock up Tom Herman before LSU can get him. If Herman does leave Houston, where ever he goes, he's in position to instantly become the highest paid college coach. Especially if Texas and LSU gets into a bidding was for his services.
Probably a decent chance he is our DC next year. He is going to get fired. Schiano will probably get a head coaching job. Fickell will probably have a look at a head coaching job too, and even if he doesn't, it doesn't seem like Urban is comfortable turning over the defense to him. I could see Urban turning to Strong as a guy he has worked with successfully before and also b/c he is a very qualified candidate.
