Hearing date set on Charlie Strong's records

THE COURIER-JOURNAL
An Oldham District Court judge will hear arguments Friday on Jonathan Blue's motion to compel former University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong to testify in Blue's divorce suit against his wife.

In a Feb. 19 motion, Blue, a businessman and U of L trustee, said he needs Strong's testimony and records to show the behavior of Blue's wife, Tracy, was "inconsistent with being a role model and responsible caretaker” for their two teenaged daughters.

Jonathan Blue is seeking a subpoena for correspondence between his wife and Strong, now head football coach at Texas, from 2012 to the present, as well as for the return of clothing and a watch she supposedly gave him. Blue also is asking for an order requiring Strong's deposition.

The motion will be heard at 9 a.m. Friday before Judge Jerry Crosby.

Kentucky is a no-fault divorce state, but Jonathan Blue's lawyer, Ann Oldfather, says in court papers that the records will support his motion for sole custody of their children. Tracy Blue is also seeking full custody.

Charlie Strong's job at Texas safe through season, source says

After starting the season 2-0, the Longhorns have lost two straight -- to Cal and Oklahoma State -- giving up 99 total points in the two defeats. The loss marked the third time in four games this year that Texas has allowed at least 47 points in a game.

Strong is in the third year of a five-year deal. If fired after the season, he would receive a $10 million buyout.

I'm thinking that Strong is a good coach; but he may not be a good fit at Texas. You should give coach at least 4 years to get his own players into the program; however, these days the rich alumni are not that patient. It wouldn't surprise me to see Texas dump Strong and try to lock up Tom Herman before LSU can get him. If Herman does leave Houston, where ever he goes, he's in position to instantly become the highest paid college coach. Especially if Texas and LSU gets into a bidding was for his services.

Don't forget that the domers might be throwing their hat into the Tom Herman sweepstakes by season's end.

Probably a decent chance he is our DC next year. He is going to get fired. Schiano will probably get a head coaching job. Fickell will probably have a look at a head coaching job too, and even if he doesn't, it doesn't seem like Urban is comfortable turning over the defense to him. I could see Urban turning to Strong as a guy he has worked with successfully before and also b/c he is a very qualified candidate.

Does UFM have a 2 year policy for coaches? This being year 1 for Schiano would mean another year left to coach in the agreement. Still, I could see Strong coming in to coach and I would gladly take that if we lose Fickle and Schiano in the next couple years.
