I made the argument last year that our Wide outs were not the problem when guys were pointing to Braxton not having experience, no deep threat, blah blah and we ended up having all three WRs playing on Sunday plus our TE was drafted.
This year we have heard the same argument, our Wides can't get separation, no deep threat, same ole same ole. I call Bull[Mark May]. I said a while back most of our receivers would be playing on Sundays and now one guy has three of them getting drafted in his top 14. Our WRs are talented.
I contend the problem with our pass game is not wide outs not separating, bad route running, inexperience, they played QB or RB in high school, or any other BS reason, but rather JT holds the damn ball too long, doesn't see the whole field well, doesn't go through his progressions well, doesn't throw anyone open, and the ball doesn't come out on time. Timing is not on the receiver, it is on the QB. I don't buy that we have too many guys rotating that he can't get comfortable with them either. I never see him cut it loose before a WR makes his break, ever.
I also contend it is not all on JT, but rather Beck. Our execution at times is what is lacking. The reason I do not lay it all on JT, in 14' we didn't see the same problems. Ball came out much quicker. I also blame vanilla routes, predictable routes, and play calling. We run the same stuff over and over in certain situations and my dad and I sit in the stands and often call the routes before the plays. If we can, you damn sure know DCs can.
We have abandon the screen pass for the most part, the quick hitting hitch, and I go hoarse screaming at them to run a damn pick or rub route when we get press man coverage. We just rarely do. We rarely take shots down the field and the opponents sit on our guys all the damn time hence why we have had a few guys wide ass open after a double move a couple of times. I would like to see more of that, along with play action on first down. We are at our best when we are throwing PA on first downs.
