CBS names All-Decade Team

I really can't believe there's a debate between Hart and Wells.

Bike was a loud mouth who couldn't back shit up. That alone knocks him down into the cellar for me. Beanie came to work and produced like it was an assembly line. Furthermore, when it comes to collegiate talent evaluators, I'll defer to the Pro Scouts. Where did the two go in the NFL draft? I feel wretched for offending Javon like this, but there's very little difference between Ringer and Hart. The two could do really well against average defenses.

Bike was a loud mouth who couldn't back shit up(Obviously entirely his fault they lost, but I doubt you place the same blame on Wells for when OSU lost any game). That alone knocks him down into the cellar for me(but not so much for CBS,when giving unbiased views). Beanie came to work and produced like it was an assembly line. Furthermore, when it comes to collegiate talent evaluators, I'll defer to the Pro Scouts. Where did the two go in the NFL draft(Exactly the best method for judging how players performed in an individual conference)? I feel wretched for offending Javon like this, but there's very little difference between Ringer and Hart. The two could do really well against average defenses.(Once again, over 5000 career rushing yards in the Big Ten (#4) all time

So Ringer/Hart does well against average defenses in Big Ten. What conference is OSU in again?

Mike Hart (2006 vs. tOSU):
23 times
142 yards
3 touchdowns

That defense wasnt that bad, now was it?

IIRC, Gamble also had another game changing play against PSU, when Krenzel fumbled on a QB keeper near our offensive endzone. A PSU defender recovered and had a clear path, plus a huge head-start, for a 90+yd TD. Gamble chased him down from behind to make the tackle. That game was all Gamble.

I watched Mr. Gamble play all season and thought he was going to be an incredible pro - I mean 100% dynamite.

It hasn't come together for him yet - but I sure don't like my Falcons playing him twice a year.

Beanie didn't talk smack in the public forum. Bike fails at this entirely. Nice non sequitur on my statement though.

CBS unbiased? You must be joking. They're as biased as I am (if not moreso).

I don't see why it can't be, at least, taken into consideration. One player goes at the end of the first, and one goes in the sixth. Pretty big difference.

1015 carries, 5040 yds, 4.96 ave

Beanie Wells: 585 carries, 3382 yds, 5.78 ave. Beanie averaged almost one yard more than Bike.

Javon even had a better average than Bike: 843 carries, 4398 yds, 5.22 ave.

And just for [censored]s and giggles, let's look at Adrian Peterson: 747 carries, 4057 yds, 5.43 ave

Your extrapolation ability is astounding.

My statement did not state Big Ten. I take entire seasons into account.

As much as I'd love to say, "yes, the 2006 Buckeye defense was good". I'll simply say that they were exposed at the end of that season for being hyped more than substantive, and leave you with the same comment that I made to powerlifter above:

"My statement did not state Big Ten. I take entire seasons into account."

Neither Beanie or Hart were close to being the best back in this decade. Beanie had the talent but missed too much time. Mike Hart exploded onto the scene in 04, but was merely consistently very good rather than great.

Great backs include Maurice Clarett in 02, Larry Johnson in 02, The Minny Duo in 04 (and 03?), Shonn Greene in 08. I don't know if they meet the career statistic requirements, but those were big time backs. The draft largely backed that up (even Clarett, given how high he went with that baggage). The lone exception, Barber, is a pro-bowl RB.

Mike Hart had a weak career in his most important game, Ohio State. Three times he came up very short. The lone exception was 2006, which was a suspect OSU run defense (regardless of statistics). His bowl performances left a lot to be desired as well.

Mike Hart's greatest season, 2006, was about the same as Pittman's (who was good to very good, not great). Same TD total, a few less YPC than Pitt, but a lot more carries to outpace him in yardage.

The Game

18 att 61 yds 1 td
09 att 15 yds 0 td
23 att 142 yds 3 td
18 att 44 yds 0 td

Bowl Games

21 att 83 yds 0 td - Texas
19 att 74 yds 0 td - Nebraska
17 att 47 yds 0 td - Southern Cal
32 att 129 yds 2 td - Florida (two very costly fumbles at the goal line kept UF in it)

Beating up on the rest of the conference but coming up short against OSU & bowl opponents is not enough to earn that kind of distinction, imo.

There sure are a lot of Buckeyes in the NFC South. Gamble and Jenkins at CB, Will Allen at S, Nugent now in Tampa Bay, Jenkins and Hartsock with the Falcons, Na'il Diggs now at Carolina, Will Smith of course ... Is Nate Salley still with Carolina?

We're taking over the south, one NFL roster spot at a time. :)
