CBF40's look at '12 recruiting (BP's prediction thread)

So with the news about Decker visiting and the fact that some members of the BPRT feel pretty confident about it, I'm going to try my hand at predicting the rest of this class.

I know Urban said four or five spots yesterday, but I'm going to say this class ends with a full 25 with six more commitments.

OL Decker
OL Dodson/O'Connor.
LB Williams
LB/S Bradley
CB Reeves
ATH Neal

I probably feel the least confident about the last two. I think it's obvious Meyer wants a corner in this class with the recent wave of offers. I think Neal ends up in this class. Maybe a commitment at the end of this weekend? Not sure I have a strong feeling on that. I think Reeves ends up joining his teammate in CBus, but Michigan guys seem to think they have the inside track there. I think Bam is evantually a Buckeye, maybe sooner than later. Decker visiting seems to be a strong indicator that he's at least SERIOUSLY considering switching, if not even leaning toward doing that. I think if Dodson wants in, he's in, but if he decides to go elsewhere O'Connor gets his offer and joins the good side.

Jamal Marcus is the kid I probably want in this class the most, but I think he stays home at ECU or goes south to UF. David Perkins seems to want to play right away, and maybe on offense, so I don't anticipate him coming this way. Demetrious Cox seems to have been asked to delay, and I think both sides are agreeing on a mutual split. Overall, if that is the ending to this class (or something that even remotely resembles that), then Urban did just an outstanding job, and he really can't receive enough kudos for rounding out the class.

This ending could set the stage for a great 2013 haul.

Is this 6 number set in stone? Do you think we may take 7? Now that Decker is a possibility, O'Conner Dodson and Decker + 2 LB and 1 Ath and 1 CB seems realistic to me.

Not at all. That's just my best guess. It could be anywhere from 5-7, imo. I was just using six for right now.

Thanks for the heads up dont know how I missed that one.

That would be a real nice pickup. Question is.... with the OT is it a first come first serve and do they wait to offer O'Connor further to see what what shakes out with Diamond and Dodson???

For whatever reason, I see the ideal number of OL being 3 in this class if we can get the right guys. 2 true OT's and one tweener, so ideally: Decker and Dodson (true OT's), and one of O'Connor/Diamond (tweeners). Not sure about numbers for the rest but I am thinking 2 LB's, 1 CB/WR (Neal likely).

If they can find a way to squeeze O'Connor in along with two outside guys I'll be ecstatic. He's going to be a mauler down the road.

Here's how I see it today:

Dodson
Decker
Perkins
Williams
Reeves
Neal/Bradley/Jackson/etc.

I feel pretty solid about the first four. And I don't think Reeves is visiting with either his aunt or mom to check out the snow we've gotten.

The question is who is there room for after that? Bam? Another speedster like Neal? Who knows at this point...

Maybe I am over rating Neal but I would think he would be a classic "if he wants in you make room for him" type recruit. The type of play maker that Meyer needs but also could end up a top shelf CB. But maybe needs are greater elsewhere.

If we somehow get 7, that's the allocation I would like to see as well.

Decker
Dodson
O'Connor
Williams
Santos
Reeves
Neal

To me this would be incredible.

I would love that finish as well but I would personally have perkins or santos

With all these guys leaving the program, rumors of more exits floating around out there, and talk that one of the early commits might not qualify, this class could end up being even bigger than we've been thinking.

Could we add 2 or even 3 more OL? 3 more LBs?

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me. We don't have to be at 82 until the fall and it seems like some serious attrition could take place in the spring. Plus, with 6 early enrollees, the 25 number isn't a factor at all.

I think we lose one current commit. And add 7 or more on top of Decker.

I'll guess its:

O'Connor
Dodson or Diamond
Williams
Perkins or Marcus
Santos
Reeves
Neal
And maybe one more CB late.
