Here is my updated class, once again assuming we get to 27:

QB - none...not enough spots
RB - Jaamal Berry
RB - Carlos Hyde
RB/WR - Jordan Hall
FB - Adam Homan (like others, not rulling out DL or LB)
FB - Zach Boren
WR - Duron Carter
WR - Chris Fields
WR - James Jackson
TE - Reid Fragel
OL - Marcus Hall
OL - Jack Mewhort
OL - Corey Linsley
OL - Chris Watt (I am still leaning towards Watt being in this class, but I would gladly take John Prior)
DT- John Simon
DT - Pat Muldoon or Corey Adams or Tyron Ezell (my gut is Muldoon goes to ND and the staff turns all their attend to Adams and Ezell...first come, first serve)
DT - Adam Bellamy
DE - Melvin Fellows (Illinois insiders still think he visits Champaign)
DE - Jonathan Newsome
LB - Storm Klein
LB - Jordan Whiting
LB - Dorian Bell
CB - CJ Barnett
CB - Dominic Clarke (I think he could be a great nickel back early on, much like Chekwa)
S - Jamie Wood
S - Vlad Emilien
S - Bradley McDougald
ATH - Corey Brown
ATH - Justin Green

BOLD = offered
BOLD & RED = committed

No McGee and no 2nd TE...I know the staff seems adamant about taking 2 TEs but I just don't see how it can work...

Updated newest two commits.. Your list has 28 not 27, who gets left on the outside looking in?

My one source thinks we take 28...if it ends up at 27 I say the 2nd TE gets left off, although I heard some remotely positive things about Sims earlier today...

What is your best guess on who would be the 3rd QB in 2009:huh:. That is very dangerous to have only two on your roster IMO

If you're down to your third quarterback, does it really matter who it is? ANY team (except maybe USC) is gonna lose some games if they're playing their third-string quarterback...do we really need to use a scholarship on someone who probably would do no better if forced into action as a freshman then say, Ohrian Johnson?

We have 22 commitments now and showing 6 that will end up here, totaling 28 without a second TE is why I was asking..

Orhian Johnson would be my guess...

The math is pretty easy...if the number is 27:

22 verbals

Holding spots for McGee, Newsome, Hall, Emilien and Berry...

If the number is 28:

Same list plus one of Ezell, Adams, Muldoon, Banks...

That is my best guess...and I emphasize the word "guess".

No Watt/Prior/2nd TE? I don't think we have room for two more DBs. Berry/Newsome/Hall/Watt are the guys that are in a group all by themselves. Other guys may have to wait for availability.

What about Watt/Prior/Klatt/Longo or a second TE? I think Banks is done at this point. He's a legacy that's been here and had an early offer but took his time. I know that sounds harsh given that it's not even July, but (1) the class is almost full, (2) we've already taken a ton of DB/ATH/WR-types, and (3) I'm sure the staff kept him abridged of what was going on. Muldoon's spot is hanging in the balance right now as well, IMO. My best guess at 28 would be:

1) Berry
2) Hall
3) Newsome
4) one of the OL
5) Vlad
6) Last spot held for either a top-flight TE, Ezell, Adams, McGee, or Muldoon, whichever wants in first.

I'm going to give this a shot, just for fun.

RB: Hyde
RB: Berry
FB: Boren(though I fully believe he'll get a fair shot at LB and it would not surprise me at all if he impresses there.)
FB: Homan
WR: Fields
WR: Jackson

WR: Carter
TE: Fragel
OL: Hall
OL: Linsley
OL: Mewhort
LEO: Newsome
DE: Fellows(this kid reminds me a lot of Heyward)
DT: Simon
DT: Adams
LB: Klein
LB: Bell
LB: Whiting
DB: Clarke
DB: Barnett
DB: Wood
DB: Emilien
DB: McDougald
DB: McGee
ATH: J. Hall
ATH: Green

Switching Adams with Bellamy and adding Watt and Brown. Going to have to take off McGee because I just can't see this class going over 27. I still think he's a possibility though. Nice to see some of those names turn red.

RB: Hyde
RB: Berry
FB: Boren
FB: Homan
WR: Fields
WR: Jackson

WR: Carter
TE: Fragel
OL: Hall
OL: Linsley
OL: Mewhort
OL: Watt
LEO: Newsome
DE: Fellows
DT: Simon
DT: Bellamy
LB: Klein
LB: Bell
LB: Whiting
DB: Clarke
DB: Barnett
DB: Wood
DB: Emilien
DB: McDougald
DB: Brown
ATH: J. Hall
ATH:
Green

Yes, I think it will matter in 2009 with all the talent that will be on that team. I don't know how good of a QB Johnson was in high school but I would think that they would want someone who was a pretty skilled QB to be a backup on a team with that much talent.

I don't know because I am not in the shoes of a good high school QB right now but I think if Ohio State went offer me the chance to wait a quarter before I became a member of a possible national championship team I might be willing to pay for one quarter. I can't answer that question.
