So right now I have 28 spots on the list...
Actually, you have 29 on there. All our commits (22) + 7 more (Berry, Sims/Hageman, Hall, Watt, Newsome, McGee, and Emilien) = 29. Just goes to show you how tight things have become. It is apparent to me the staff wants 4 OL, that both Glenville kids are going to be in, and that Vlad and Berry are almost certainly in. Assuming we get go to 28, that leaves one spot for either a TE, McGee, Banks, Ezell, Muldoon, or Adams (and I think the staff would take any of the big 4 WRs with outstanding offers). Otherwise, if we only go to 27, our class probably closes with the Glenville kids, who may be the last to commit (I sort of wonder if Newsome's recent decision to "decide when the time is right" doesn't have something to do with the staff sending him a gentle reminder that the class is just about full and they want another D-lineman).
Personally, I don't think McGee will be part of this class at this point. With so many DBs already in, I can't imagine we take both McGee and Vlad, and I think Vlad is the one that will jump on sooner rather than later. As good as McGee is, I don't think it makes sense to take him too when you could land any of the others that I mentioned before. Just my opinion. I'm looking at Banks along the same lines. Something seems strange about the Banks situation. Bill K seems so sure the Bucks are holding a spot for him, but I don't understand how that could be. Banks is a legacy and has held his offer for quite a time, and at the same time gives no indication that he'll be deciding soon. If I don't think McGee is going to be in, I certainly don't think Banks will be at this point. I'm thinking he must want to be a Domer.
As to who
will take that last spot, I really think it is a first-come, first-serve situation. It doesn't appear to me that either TE is near deciding, and despite some reports to the contrary, I think the prospect of taking a TE in this class dies with Sims and Hageman (but I could certainly be wrong about that). The least likely scenario would be landing one of the big 4 WRs remaining--just don't see that much interest there, though they're all too good to pass on. I also don't see Muldoon deciding anytime soon given that he's already waited so long, especially since it's effectively been down to us and Notre Dame. He'll likely be a Domer, IMO. I think we put the full-court press on Adams and Ezell, and which ever takes first gets in. I would say Ezell, but his latest update makes it sound like he could drag his feet. Other than Berry, Adams is the guy I would really like to see in this class. I think he could develop into the kind of player that you have to double team and just hope he still doesn't get to the QB.
