CBF40'S Look at '09 recruiting

An update...Will give the full update with writeups after camp as I feel we will see a couple kids join the fray next weekend or early in the next week after camp...
TE Hageman or Sims (These two have offers, and in the last update, it said we will hold a spot for Hageman, have to feel the same would go for Sims)

4th WR (As I have stated, no way you turn down Boyd or Debose...I am sure the staff will really turn up the heat as they could be about the only 2 that they really have to do much recruiting on as they will be the only ones not done by the end of summer...Will know more if they visit...)

DL Adams or Ezell (Staff loves Ezell, everyone loves Adams, if one of them wants to jump on board I think they take them...)

And last but not least...Two guys that you would consider locks under normal circumstances might be on the outside looking in...Green and McDougald...If McGee goes elsewhere then maybe one of them jumps on board...
I can say 27 but can you say 85:biggrin2:

If Hyde is the next Beanie Wells, then we've got ourselves the steal of the century. Think more along the lines of Branden Joe vs. Kansas State. If Berry and Hyde both sign with OSU, then Hyde will be the change of pace to Berry.

you missed the last line where I said "in terms of how they are utilized"... I wasn't comparing them for their abilities but for how they will be used which makes your statement "then Hyde will be the change of pace to Berry" exactly in line with what I was saying (with the big back speed back rolls switched), currently Mo Wells is a change of pace from Beanie

I don't think it is too far fetched...

Right now if everyone stayed put we would be looking at having 22 spots available...

Thus we would need 5 to open up...

1 = Beanie leaving...You can hope and pray all you want, but he isn't staying...RB's only have so many carries in them...If you are top 10 pick you go...

2-5 = I don't like to talk about names and transfers and have no inside information, but we can all look at the depth chart and with the incoming class, see some names that are pretty buried and then with the 09' class coming in may not see any time here and leave...When you start bringing in the guys we are bringing in then people start to leave, not because they don't like it here but because they want to play...

Just think...tOSU is you favorite school you commit there...You thought that you could be a starter, not afraid of competition or anything like that, just maybe the skill level wasn't there, and you end up being 10th on the depth chart, and you see 6 guys coming in at your position...You might think that you are better suited to try your game else where...

There is also grades, discipline, injuries, all things that lead to opening of scholarships...

I can't say 85 right now, but I can say attrition and a number of 5 is not that high with how we have been recruiting lately...

I will set up the vBet - but let's clarify the terms.

Are we saying no more than 25 LOIs on signing day? Or are we saying no more than 25 kids from the class of 2009 become Buckeyes (thus extending the duration of the bet - which is already out to February)?

For the record, I don't see any sort of stigma with oversigning. IMO it just creates problems with classes down the road - particularly 2010 - and I did not see JT doing that. I hear lots of insiders saying more than 225 - but I have also read others (i.e. Kurelic) saying 23-24.

CBF - no mention of Banks as a possibility in your new predictions. Just forget to mention him or do you think there is no chance he is in this class at this point? I thought he would be lumped in with that Green, McDougald crowd waiting in the wings if we don't land McGee.

Have four choices: 22 or less, 23-24, 25-26, 27 or more. LOIs on signing day.

I don't think there should be an answer that has 25-26. Isn't the whole premise of the arguement that we won't sign over 25? If there's a 25-26 selection then that accomodates both arguements. Just make the one choice 23-25 and then 26 or more being the last choice.

Uh, I don't recall asking for your input, Sparky...

Doesn't make his point any less valid... 25 & 26 in the same answer doesn't make much sense... especially in a debate with such a hardline about 'not oversigning'

Berry is a feature back. He has better size, speed, elusiveness, and power than Mo Wells. Potential star at the college level. The best OSU comparison that I can think of is Michael Wiley.

most of us were very excited for wells, he had nice potential.

hopefully mike wiley vs pitt his frosh year..

.

Hall and Lamaar Thomas seem like similar players - "wing back" types who will be utilized primarily in the passing game, occasionally in the running game.
shotginn style player?
