4.38 at pro day, though that was the old astroturf.I think we had AJ Hawk as a low 4.4 guy
The big difference is that Conley clearly wasn't physically ready then....and thus was never a starter that year.I remember when Gareon Conley was pulled for performance in the MSU game and replaced by an injured Eli Apple his redshirt freshman year (same age as Sheffield in now). Somehow he rebounded to become a NFL 1st round draft pick.
Exactly... Obviously kendall has every tool in the world right now with tremendous size, really fast, and he can play the run but right now he just doesn't trust himself when the ball is in the air to make the simple play on it. To me it seems like his fear is to be burned for a big TD and he's worried that if he goes for the "through the hands" technique that he'll miss and they'll be off running. The big difference is that Conley clearly wasn't physically ready then....and thus was never a starter that year.
I thought they had cured that last year... old habits die hard.I'm not so ready to blame any of the DBs on these PI calls. It looks an awful lot like our guys are taught to NOT turn and look for the ball. Maybe he's just doing what he's been taught to do.
Had the same thoughts myself.Anyone else underwhelmed by his speed? He's a track star and supposed to be one of the 5 fastest on the team, yet I haven't seen it translate onto the field. If he gets beat deep, he gets beat; he doesn't close the gap. Denzel Ward on the other hand has ridiculous closing speed. Maybe he's too bulky for CB?
