CB Bradley Roby (2x All B1G)

Rough outing for Roby. Was taken advantage of multiple times, although his stat line wasn't bad.

I, for one, was shocked that he struggled in man coverage so much. Anyone have any insight as to why that was? Was it scheme? Was Treggs that good?

I remember about 3 or 4 times when Roby was beaten one on one, and I don't think I can remember 3 or 4 times that's happened the last year and a half.

It's always tough to criticize DBs from the armchair, since many times it's not evident which player had which responsibility. I saw Roby clearly beaten only once, on a superb throw. He may or may not have had primary responsibility on the "push" play.

A lot of confusion on that play. Looks like he had the under route. And like you said, hard to armchair DBs

2014 NFL Draft: Week 3 Stock Report

NFL prospects who hurt themselves

Bradley Roby, CB, Ohio State

After sitting out the season opener due to a suspension, the Buckeyes junior showed some rust week in his first action of the year and again displayed inconsistent focus for most of the Buckeyes' win at California. Roby started the game playing 10-12 yards off the line of scrimmage, conceding underneath throws, even in short-yardage situations. Some of that is scheme-based and might not be all Roby's fault, but it is up to him to drive and limit plays in front of him, something he was late to do in this contest. His lack of size and overall length also showed up several times as he often found himself a few inches away from making a play on the ball. There is a lot to love about Roby's game, including his speed and fighting attitude, but he needs to stay alert for all four quarters to convince NFL teams he's worthy of a high first-round grade.

Yeah, I don't think that was his responsibility, although the 2 hand push was inexcusable. Not a coverage issue though.

He was beaten twice on crossing routes over the middle, and twice to the endzone. Re-watching parts of the game, it looks like he was struggling with the quickness of the receivers. They seemed to get good jumps on him, and he wasn't able to recover.

I'd imagine we'll see that cleaned up as he continues to get the rust knocked off.

Nah, WE are the kings. Next question.

They say confidence is good for cornerbacks and Roby has got it.

Or when they hint that Abbrederis is good, Roby explains it something like
Wisconsin lulls you to sleep, another run, and then there is a good crisp route.

Well here's hoping that Roby can stay awake in the 'shoe even when it gets late, because he isn't stressing out. Somebody, please make some noise to keep him awake.
