CB Bradley Roby (2x All B1G)

He shouldn't be suspended at all based on the information that has come out over the last couple of days.

I understand sending a message, but if this is in response to the "spotlight" that's on Urban Meyer because of the Hernandez case then the only message Meyer is sending is that he can be manipulated by media coverage of him and his team.

If the articles that I'm reading are accurate then Roby didn't do anything other than respond after multiple physical provocations. Some meat head bouncers want to go all alpha ape on a guy and then lie about it. I'm curious about the handcuffing by the "security" at this place. Since when do bouncers have the authority to hand cuff someone?

Sorry for the rant, but I just read a very sympathetic article in SI about Money Badger and I'm sick and tired of every fucking school in America getting a free pass except Urban Meyer and Ohio State.

Roby shouldn't miss a minute of time because of this. It's absolutely stupid.

I guess my only hope would be that sitting these guys down this year for a game or two with this schedule will make kids think different when making choices that might make them sit out some early games against VT or Oklahoma.

None of the articles that I have seen give any details on what he did to warrant removal from the building to begin with. My guess is that the suspension has more to do with what happened inside, than what happened outside.

The more that comes out, the more that I think it'll be one game.

And it sounds like the Mellencamp boys are just as big of douches as their father. I listened to an NPR interview with him where he was saying that all his 80s bubble gum songs were meant to be folk songs but the record company meanies ruined them. Hey John, nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to be a pop star sellout, and 30 years later you can't have it both ways. You don't get to play Townes Van Zandt because you WEREN'T Townes Van Zandt. Either give the money back or shut your [censored]ing trap.:[censored]ed:

No, being in a bar in Bloomington was stupid. Doing anything other than leaving the place after being provoked was stupid.

With respect to this kind of thing I don't care how the media treats one school versus another and I don't care how other big programs would have handled it. Ohio State should operate by its own standard and it should be a strict one. I think that's what Coach Meyer is doing and I appreciate it.

Ohio State football notebook: Suspended Bradley Roby still working hard
By Bill Rabinowitz
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH WEDNESDAY AUGUST 21, 2013

While Doran Grant and Armani Reeves spoke with reporters yesterday, Bradley Roby sat in a nearby ice tub.

Grant and Reeves will start at cornerback in Ohio State?s season opener while Roby will spend the game on ice. But despite the one-game suspension that coach Urban Meyer handed Roby for his involvement in a Bloomington, Ind., bar altercation, the junior is not moping.

Asked how Roby has responded, cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs said, ?Awesome.?

Coombs and Roby always have had a close relationship, largely because of Roby?s work ethic.

?He screwed up,? Coombs said. ?He?s wrong. He knows it. He?s paying a tremendous price.

?(But) he works like a professional every day. He works hard at his craft every day. He studies film. He takes care of his business.?

Roby was an all-Big Ten selection last season and is expected to be a first-round pick in next year?s NFL draft. The redshirt junior has said he intends to enter the draft after this season.

?He wants to be as good as anybody in the country,? Coombs said. ?He?s not yet. He knows that. We?ve had that discussion.?

Coombs said the suspension has not altered Roby?s work habits. When other players put in extra work last week, Coombs said, so did Roby.

?I don?t find him to be different,? Coombs said. ?I find him to be embarrassed, and I don?t blame him. But I find him to be a guy who?s going about his business as a pro.?

Charge against Ohio State DB Bradley Roby dismissed

As long as Roby successfully completes a diversion program and avoids legal trouble for the next calendar year, Roby will not face a class-b misdemeanor charge.

Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch reported Wednesday evening that the disorderly conduct charge facing Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby was conditionally dismissed.

The disorderly conduct charge, a class-b misdemeanor, stemmed from an encounter with a bouncer at a Bloomington, Indiana area bar this past July. Roby was arrested and subsequently until recently his status with the football team was up in the air.

Though he had been practicing with the second team, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer announced this past weekend that Roby would be suspended at least one game, pending the outcome of a hearing that had been set for next week. As a result of the conditional dismissal, that hearing has been canceled. As long as Roby completes a diversion program successfully and can stay out of trouble until August 16th, 2014, he won't face the misdemeanor he'd previously been charged with.

With Bradley Roby out of the mix, Ohio State plans to start Armani Reeves opposite Doran Grant. Ohio State opens their season a week from Saturday at noon against the University of Buffalo.

I understand the political crap behind it but you can't honestly support a 3 game suspension from Hyde and only give a 1 game suspension to Roby when Roby's altercation was seemingly much worse.

How in the fuck was Roby's "much worse"? He only pushed a bouncer outside of a club, while Hyde apparently made a retaliatory move against a female...Meyer has zero tolerance for any actions against a female.

Roby's a team leader and one of the most visible members of this team. He is necessarily held to a higher standard. You know it. I know it. Joseph Alutto knew it. Urban Meyer knew it.......And Bradley Robey should have damn well known it.

Looking forward to having Roby back this coming week, along with CJ Barnett. This team is going to have a completely different look with those two back on the field. Buffalo was picking on Roby's replacement, Armani Reeves, all afternoon. They won't be able to pick on us like that the rest of the year, as long as we can stay healthy.
