Cornerback Bradley Roby was taken into custody in Indiana July 21 and charged with battery resulting in bodily injury.

As he awaits a pretrial hearing later this month for a misdemeanor battery charge in Bloomington, Ind., Ohio State redshirt junior cornerback Bradley Roby is practicing with the football team, coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday.

Meyer said he has not made a decision yet on whether to suspend Roby.

?I'm just waiting to find out all the information,? Meyer said.

Bradley Roby works with second team as punishment while Gareon Conley plays first-team corner: Ohio State practice
Ohio State practice 2013 Aug. 7
By Doug Lesmerises, The Plain Dealer
August 07, 2013

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State has the best second-team cornerback in college football. Of that, there is little doubt.

The Buckeyes' fourth practice of the preseason on Wednesday was the first in which reporters were allowed to watch the whole time. That meant checking out All-American candidate Bradley Roby running with the second team, an obvious punishment for his July arrest on a misdemeanor battery charge. Urban Meyer is still weighing a penalty while waiting for Roby to make his way through the court system.

The same could be seen with running back Carlos Hyde, who has been suspended for the first three games of the year after a nightclub incident. Jordan Hall, whom coaches had planned to use mostly in the slot position, worked a lot with the running backs Wednesday, where he seemed to share the first-team load with Rod Smith. Then in the pecking order of repetitions came Bri'onte Dunn, Warren Ball, freshman Ezekiel Elliott, and then Hyde.

Both are getting their work in. But they aren't doing it with the guys they're used to playing alongside.

?I feel like it's a humbling experience for him,? senior safety Christian Bryant said of Roby. ?Just stepping down with the twos right now, I feel like it's to show an example, just because he was starting last year and nothing is ever guaranteed, even if you do a few things off the field. I feel like he's doing a pretty good job of taking that role and understanding what he needs to do and showing the young guys he doesn't really have problems.?

1. CB Bradley Roby (5-11, 193, 4.42)*
Arguably the best cornerback at the college level, Roby passed up the first round to return to Ohio State for his junior season, but the vibe around the program is 2013 will be his final in Columbus. He has started 23 games the past two seasons for the Buckeyes with five career interceptions, leading the nation in passes defended per game last year with a 1.73 average. Roby has elite speed, range and closing burst, displaying an explosive gear to eat up grass in a hurry with the make-up speed to recover and chase down ballcarriers. His foot quickness is above average, easily getting out of his breaks with the read-react quickness to anticipate routes and arrive before the ball. Roby has a natural feel in coverage with very good vision and timing to get his hands on the ball and disrupt the catch point. He lowers his pads and is an aggressive hitter in run support, but needs to control himself and be more consistent breaking down at the point of attack. Roby's lack of size and strength will show up at times as he struggles to quickly disengage blocks, especially against bigger receivers on the outside. He has improved his footwork and upper body technique the past two seasons, but his hand use is still a work-in-progress, attracting too many penalties downfield for defensive holding and pass interference. Roby has supreme confidence for the position, but is also susceptible to double-moves and overaggressive angles due to his fiesty nature. Although he still has some wrinkles he needs to iron out, Roby is one of the more exciting defensive prospects for next year's class based off of film study and it won't be surprising if he ends up as a top-10 prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Ohio State football: Charges against Roby reduced
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch? Friday August 16, 201

The misdemeanor charge against Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby was changed today from battery, a class A misdemeanor, to disorderly conduct, a less serious charge.

Roby was arrested July 21 after an altercation outside a Bloomington, Ind, bar. Roby has not missed practice time, but the All-Big Ten player has taken reps with the second unit during training camp.

Coach Urban Meyer has said that he is awaiting all of the facts in the case before deciding what, if any, punishment he?ll give Roby. At the Big Ten media days, Meyer said that a suspension was likely.

The motion to amend was filed by Monroe County deputy prosecutor Christopher Pierce this morning. Disorderly conduct is a class B misdemeanor.

The pretrial conference remains scheduled for Aug. 26.

Seems like a fair outcome. It will be interesting to see the punishment. Hyde is on video being agressive to a woman and gets 3 games even though there are no charges filed and Roby probably gets 1 game even though there are charges filed. Seems about fair, but it is an interesting comparison. So glad to be getting close to full resolution on both!

He'll get one game probably. I'm not saying that disorderly conduct is a good thing, but anything more than one game would be ridiculous
He punched a bouncer in the face and still has charges pending. As opposed to Carlos Hyde who got suspended for 3 games because he didn't walk away after the girl slapped him. I think Roby is going to get a 5-6 game suspension. And given the standards UFM holds his players to nowadays, I think that's fair.

edit: When is the court date for Roby?

Is this serious? He made contact with a bouncers chest and that was it. That is why the charges were reduced to Disorderly Contact today.

Maybe 1 game, maybe none.
