To get what will be a top 10 pick, likely in 2013.

to use a quote we like down here, how the hell you gonna flip-a-bitch on this guy, next year (if there is one, i hope there isn't), expiring contracts are going to be worthless.. so unless they could have moved him this year, he's a waste.

I think you're missing the point. We aren't trying to compete. The 2012 or 2013 first round draft pick would have been the value.

Gilbert is willing to pay now to build a competitive future team.

if there is indeed a hard cap forthcoming, expiring contracts will be worth far more than they are right now. i don't seem to follow your logic.

To be honest with both ya'll, ya'll are right, my logic is 2 bricks short of a load. Usually thats not the case but I guess I'm just [censored]ed off today and feel like arguing :)

rotoworld on cavs 2nd trade of the day

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nba/37426/270/trade-deadline-madness

and Luke Harangody to Cleveland for a 2nd Round Pick

If folks were stunned by the first trade, this was the one that pushed many Celtics fans over the edge. Erden by many measures had impressed folks with his craftiness down low, and while lacking strength and needing to develop still, he was a necessary piece with the O'Neals lacking any durability to speak of. Adding Harangody to the mix, while inconsequential, just looks like David Stern called Ainge and told him it was a 6'7" and under league. We'll soon learn the real reasons for why this second trade happened.

video of Erden...first few clips are funny because its him getting dunked on but rest is good
