Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

i think this is the type of change of scenery mo needs to maybe end his season on a high note...i talked to a cavs assistant who pretty much confirmed that when mo is hurt, its really mo just being a bitch because hes mentally unstable...so LA could help all of that...i also love this trade, because of most importantly the first round pick, which will hopefully be in the top 7...maybe by an act of god we could actually end up with picks #1 and #2...that would be insane....Davis probably wont even play for the cavs this year, there were talks of him being out for multiple games for the clippers before the trade even happened...im assuming he is very unhappy about this trade, even was quoted as saying he was "stunned"...i can see how someone who grew up in LA, played college ball there, and was now playing back in LA professionally, would be pissed off at being traded to Cleveland in the middle of the winter to be on the worst team in the NBA...Davis could very well be a bigger head case then ricky davis was, or maybe coach scott can change things...who knows...all i know is we traded a bi-polar and jamario moon for a possible hurt headcase and an unprotected future lottery pick....nice job grant!

edit: one thing i was just thinking....if there is a pending lockout and guys like Kyle Irving, Sullinger, Perry Jones do not come out it, then this draft is 10 times weaker...tsteele might have to answer this, but if there is a pending lockout im assuming it probably wouldnt go down until after the draft is over....so hopefully for the cavs if there is a lockout its not till the last minute and college kids decide to come out early

everyone thought the NFL labor situation would cause a lot of kids to stay in school. the exact opposite happened. i doubt the lockout will really affect this draft class that much.

as for mo williams, he's still going to a terrible team, with a terrible owner, that's poorly run. there will be a cold reality about the difference between dan gilbert and daniel sterling.

FUCKIN' A!!!

An unprotected #1 pick from the Clippers??? We get rid of deadwood Williams and Moon and we pick up Baron Davis's carcus? I can handle that, for another top 10 pick. The only way Baron Davis will work is if Byron can talk to Baron and tell him, this is only temporary. Don't worry, just play hard and that way we can trade you to a better team next year.

OR, I can think positive for once and say we hit lottery gold and get TWO picks in the top 4 (trying not to get too greedy with the top 2 picks). The Cavs pick the right 2 players and this team COULD turn it around quickly with a veteren base of Jamison, Davis & Andy, plus TWO top 5 players from the draft? If those two players hit, then this team can turn very promising.

It will be like the NFL, draft for this year and then the lockout will happen after it. Maybe some kids might stay, but doubtful. The lockout will end eventually and they would still get paid.

im still trying to wrap my head around how the clippers could give away their unprotected first round pick...its not like mo and jamario add 10 wins to that roster...i guess there is a reason as to why the clippers have been so bad for so long....also hats off to chris grant...trades delonte west and sebastian telfair for sessions and ryan hollins...and now the baron davis trade...great job

Heard that too, but its curious because only Windhorst and one other reporter have really talked about it. That being said I think Windhorst is one of the best beat writers in the NBA.

Another great part of this trade that happened... we still have our TPE and can still make another 'major' trade.

Also, I finally listened to Windhort's podcast with Rizzo. Another interesting point is the lockout. If the lockout is long enough, or takes out the next season all-together, the Cavs could potentially make this horrible season count TWICE! ie if there is no season next year, the 2012 draft will have to use this season's records to determine the draft order, NICE!

Now we just have to hope they can draft the right players.

Wow. I really don't see what the LAC saw in this trade, at all, but we'll take it. Right now draft picks are way more valuable than any of the players involved, because you know what you're getting with those players and it's pretty marginal for the money.

This is starting to remind me a bit of the mid-eighties. The Cavs drafted Brad Dorgherty (SP), Mark Price, and Ron Harper. The year before, they had taken
Hot Rod Williams. By year 2 the Cavs were a decent team.:)

agree...if we could get 3 first round picks in this draft, as bad as some say it is, then it is a huge youth swing and something you would have to give chris grant credit for...and we also have the TPE which we can get even more picks in this draft or future drafts...got to say its exciting to be a cavs fan right now

It kinda is. I like the idea of a Heat-crippling CBA coming up and a youth movement in Cleveland. Load this team up through the draft like OKC did and come back after the lockout ready to pound Quitness all the way into advanced male-pattern baldness.

If you had told me yesterday that the Cavs would turn Mo and Moon into a first round pick I would have called you crazy. If they could turn the TPE into another lower first round pick it would be even better. They need to collect as many first round picks as they can get today even if they are spread over a couple years. Keep the young players and shed everyone else.
This move shows that Gilbert is set on rebuilding the Cavs. Financially this move isn't the best for him, but if this lottery pick hits it could take a year off the rebuilding process.

I hate to be the sourpuss about the trade, but I just can't get happy about BD coming to the Cavs... I have no reason to believe he shows effort for the Cavs, and at $13mm per... well fuckingshit...

I actually like BD (circa 3 years ago, of course) and was excited when the Clips took him from Golden State because I thought I'd get to see an exciting player at a good ticket price... of course he basically retired for a couple years before he figured out its fun throwing 'oops to BG.

I hope he retires before his tenure is up... it's about time anyways
