Homeless man with radio voice has offer

Associated Press
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have offered a job to a homeless Ohio man with a golden radio voice.
Ted Williams, whose deep baritone and plight have made him an online video sensation, was contacted Wednesday by the Cavs. Team spokesman Tad Carper says details are being worked out on the possible position. It could include Williams working in Quicken Loans Arena.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that video of Williams posted this week on its website has commanded millions of views.
In the clip, Williams stands near a Columbus highway ramp demonstrating his smooth, deep speaking voice. He holds a sign that asks motorists for help and says, "I'm an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times."
Williams says he had trouble with drugs and alcohol but is two years sober.

The Nuggets and Nets were reportedly close, for a second time, to hammering out the structure of a trade to send Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey. According to Chris Broussard, a deal that would have brought in the Cavaliers was discussed before Christmas.
The trade would have sent one or two first-round picks to Cleveland in exchange for the large traded player exception that the Cavs acquired in signing-and-trading LeBron James to Miami.
Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and three first-round picks would have been sent to Denver. Al Harrington and his sizable contract would have been packaged with Anthony to New Jersey.
The deal fell apart because both Denver and Cleveland wanted the 2012 pick from Golden State that is protected for the top seven selections.
The Nets have a standing offer of Favors and two first-round picks for Anthony.
The Knicks remain Anthony's top choice but Denver is cold to New York's offer. The Knicks have been making the case to Anthony's agent that signing an extension before the season ends could have diminished value with a lockout looming. The league's bargaining stance includes shrinking all player contracts, whether already in existence or not.

2 first round picks, one being in the top 7 would of been awesome to get...hopefully denver and NJ get desperate and decide to take this on

top 7 protected means that golden state keeps the pick if they are picking in the top 7. so, the pick would at best be #8.

ok thanks i totally read that wrong...either way i will take golden state's pick...no way its out of the top 12

doesn't matter. denver's gone batshit crazy with this whole thing. they originally wanted 5 1st round picks as well as to dump off an unwanted contract. they think by playing hardball, it will drive the cost of carmello up, because more teams will try to get in the mix. they are flat out wrong.

take favors, and 2 1st rounders, and shut up about it already. cleveland will be the facilitator, get devin harris, one of NJ 1sts, and the GS pick. the nuggets aren't getting a better deal.

ya but i think denver has finally realized that they are going to have to take what they can get because carmelo isn't re-signing with them...if they didnt hear him the first time then maybe they heard him the 6th time...i applaud the cavs for standing ground according to the rumors...grant could of folded like Paxson probably would of done and taken the deal without getting 2 first rounders and possibly a player (i would love favors or even the often injured devin harris) like troy murphy in the deal...im not a fan of troy murphy and i would rather not take him in the deal...hopefully he would get moved to denver...making this move along with a few others is really going to help the cavs out for the future...grant should be looking at the OKC model for success...load up on draft picks and draft smart

the only way the cavs take troy murphy is if the deal is done very soon, as murphy is an expiring, and cleveland can turn him before the trade deadline for pennies on the dollar. that would make a lot of sense, really. they could simply take another 1st and someone with a longer contract for murphy.

correct...this article mentions some of that

The rumors that the Cavaliers were involved in a prospective three-way deal that would have sent the Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony to the Nets were beefed up with additional details from ESPN.com. New Jersey originally offered rookie Derrick Favors, two first-round draft picks and Troy Murphy, but the Nuggets apparently weren't interested in Murphy because they would have been stuck with the remaining $8 million on his expiring contract. That's where Cleveland and its $14.5 million trade exception came in.

Sources told the web site that Denver would have received Favors, Devin Harris and three first-round picks. Cleveland would have received Murphy and one or two first-round picks, and the Nets would have received Anthony, Al Harrington and the Cavaliers' trade exception.

:slappy: losing 57-25 at the half to the Lakers

it sucks that there probably is not a major impact franchise player in this draft

ya i picked this game of all games to watch entirely...and ya there is not a huge franchise player like a durant or a lebron in the draft but each draft has its key players...hopefully the cavs could get a sullinger to if nothing else put fans in the seats
