Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

It's a list like this that actually gets me excited...how Chris Singleton is not on here leaves me scratching my head, but at the same time means we'd have an excellent opportunity to get a player of his caliber later in the draft.

Dude plays SF, is 6'10, is arguably the best defender in college basketball and has range beyond the arc. Ball handling and explosion are lacking a little bit, but he's great at using his frame defensively, plays awesome help defense, and can guard 3 positions on the court.

Give me a top 3 lottery pick, and Chris Singleton in the second if he's there and I'd be stoked....

BTW, his bio lists a weakness as defense....re-watch the Ohio State against Florida State and tell me he's not a good defender. He shut the paint down as a SF...He had like 5 blocks and numerous steals. Defense is his strength, not weakness. His bio also lists him as mid-late first round, but on the opening web-page he isn't listed as one of the top 30 prospects....

Cavs coach Scott not interested in trade rumors about Wallace

Published: Friday, January 14, 2011, 1:36 PM Updated: Friday, January 14, 2011, 2:01 PM

By Mary Schmitt Boyer, The Plain Dealer

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Cavaliers coach Byron Scott figures he has enough on his plate without worrying about a rumored trade of forward Gerald Wallace to the Cavaliers.
"I don't pay a whole lot of attention to it,'' Scott said of the trade reported by Yahoo!Sports. "A lot of it's rumors, a lot of it's just people speculating things of that nature. My main focus is this team. My plate's full enough.''
According to Yahoo!Sports, the Cavs would use their trade exception to acquire Wallace, who has two years and $22 million left on his contract. But the Cavs are seeking a lottery-protected first-round pick, according to Yahoo!Sports. The Bobcats are known to have been shopping Wallace for several weeks in an effort to cut costs.

Bingo. The guy is one of the most athletic players in the country and just may be the best defender. He's certainly on the short list.

14 losses in a row

who are they going to take at #1?

color me unimpressed with Perry Jones the few times ive seen him.....Kyrie Irvin looked pretty nice before getting hurt

NBAdraft.net right now says Derrick Williams (who is pretty much single handedly carrying Arizona right now) #1 to the Cavs

Well, first of all, it's Cleveland, so it's doubtful they'd be lucky enough to win the lottery. But, if they could get Sullinger to Cleveland, it might be enough to get me interested in the NBA again.

can't say I see any talent in college this year that I would call a franchise turnaround type player.

and im glad because cleveland doesnt need a carmelo, lebron, wade superstar/ego maniac that is going to leave after 3 years right now...we need Brandon Roy, Stephen Curry, Danny Granger type talent in Cleveland...if we can get 2-3 of these type players in a short period of time that can mesh well, we will be in great shape...we dont need to hit a grand slam in the draft with one pick like a kevin durant to rely on turning the franchise completely around again...we already had that with lebron and we got fucked in the ass

That, and don't discount the benefit of getting a player who's not "too good, too early". The Cavs need to collect a handful of really good players rather than having one superstar and no help. IMO that was one of the problems with the LeBron era - the rapid turnaround in record combined with the draft picks that were given away left little opportunity to find high-end help at the top of the draft. By the time the Cavs were in position to make a decent pick, they were stuck back at the ass end of the draft.

The lack of elite instant superstar talent in this draft might actually be a bit of a blessing for the Cavs in the long haul.

byron scott's system needs a stud PG to be totally effective. Kyrie Irving is a stud PG. Ramon Sessions is a backup PG, but a decent backup. Cleveland also needs some form of legit big man.

as for the lebron saga, had jim paxon not squandered all of cleveland's draft picks immediately before and after drafting lebron, it would not have been an issue. just think that cleveland could have had iguodala or danny granger playing the SG spot, David Lee at PF, and given that, they would have likely drafted Roy Hibbert instead of JJ Hickson.

jim paxson fucked us so hard

- drafts Luke Jackson at #10 passing on #15 Al Jefferson, #17 Josh Smith, #18 J.R. Smith, #20 Jameer Nelson, and #26 Kevin Martin
- trades a FIRST ROUND PICK FOR JIRI FUCKING WELSH (remember this guy couldnt even hit a 3 or make FT's when he got here...worst ever), which in the end, because of the sasha palvovic trade that same year costed us 2 first rounders all together which fucked us in the next years draft as well

i agree on the PG thing with scott's system...i just hope they take the best available and not who will suit Scott's system...as high as the turnover rate is going to be for cleveland head coaches, i just hope they take someone that will fit into alot of people's systems

Don't worry, the cavs will have the worst record in the NBA for years to come....

if it goes on for more then 2-3 years dan gilbert will go out and buy and trade for everyone he can under the salary cap so we can at least get the 8th seed
