if it goes on for more then 2-3 years dan gilbert will go out and buy and trade for everyone he can under the salary cap so we can at least get the 8th seed

If they can get one of the top picks the next two years along with a mid first rounder each year they will probably be ok in a few years. Cleveland's biggest problem is that no good free agent will want to come to Cleveland. Our best bet is to speed up global warming so that all the good coastal locations flood or get too hot and Cleveland becomes what we currently consider a tropical location.

dan gilbert learned a harsh reality last summer. he won't run that same race again. they will do what OKC did, in that they acquired a series of young assets and draft picks and let them develop into a contender. what OKC has yet to do is to start giving up some of those assets to get the necessary compliments to be a legit contender. while they are anywhere from a 3 to 6 seed in the west right now, they simply don't rebound and defend the post well enough to make it out of the west. where the screwed the pooch was by taking jeff green instead of joakim noah.

which cleveland has been consistently trying to do with no avail...if the rust belt was still booming i think the hole in the ozone layer above cleveland would be well past gone by now

ya that is the game plan but if it goes on for year(s), im talking 4-5, then i cant see dan gilbert going with the OKC gameplan...dan gilbert is not that kind of owner and he put his foot in his mouth by saying we were going to win a championship before miami...he will go with the OKC gameplan (which i am all for btw) but if it goes on for too long without any good results he is going to fire the GM and try a different strategy...the win at all costs dan gilbert strategy written in comic sans font

Another horrid effort in a 92-79 loss to the Bulls, thats 16 straight losses now

this is hard to watch, at least the Indians [Mark May] squads provide some sort of entertainment when losing.....this is just straight downright awful

Ain't that the truth...plus the Indians can beat any team in the league on a given night...granted it might only be once in a 4 game series, but if you watch over a weekend you are more likely than not to at least see a win intermixed somewhere. This team just has no chance, and it is ugly as fuck to watch.

The rumors about a trade sending Gerald Wallace to the Cavaliers have died down, as the Cavs aren't interested in trading draft picks.
Cleveland is entering a full-blown rebuilding phase, post-LeBron, and they're also not interested in Wallace's contract. The Bobcats appear to be quietly shopping their longest-tenured player, though a few quick wins could encourage them to keep the team together for a playoff run.

I guess if the Wallace trade never happens then that would be the smart move.

Amen, Mike! The best thing for Gilbert to do is build off the draft and go after free agents that fill certain needs (the biggest one is getting guys that won't mind being in Cleveland). It is a bitch to find players that have developed a team first mindset regardless where they play. In today's NBA, they are few and far between. Tim Duncan is the first that comes to mind. I know there are others but it is up to management to find those guys and it is damn near like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

the only way the cavs were making the wallace trade was if the bobcats threw in a pick with him for the Cavs TPE. They were never giving up a pick.

the bobcats are desperate to unload some salary, which is where the entire idea came from originally.

you will eventually see cleveland take on some shitty contracts with their TPE, and get a pick in return, then move those shitty deals in a year or so when they are expiring for less shitty deals and more picks.

Sounds like the best strategy to rebuild with. We have limited assets and must make use of our TPE. At the very least the turnover on the team from year to year adding young talent should be interesting to watch.
