Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

No, it's 3.8 total. He's from Arizona so it's hard to compete with home.

I'm not sure they have enough money to get Kleiza. Denver is hammered with payroll, so a trade may work, since he's restricted and they would likely
match any offer the Cavs could make (2.8MM max left from the MLE). I'd love to get him if possible. I wil;l say I'd rather get him than Frye.

Well, there's always Joe Smith.

Danny Green had a solid debut in the first summer league game yesterday (88-82 loss to the lakers) he put up 16 points in 25 minutes, 5-7 from the field and 4-6 from 3

Leo Lyons (UFA from Mizzou) also had a solid game with 14 points and 5 rebounds in 18 minutes

next game is tonight against Milwaukee, meaningless I know but its a slow time in sports

Meaningless maybe, but if Danny Green can hit open 3's and defend NBA caliber players he could earn minutes off the bench. With Wally and Pavs gone and Lebron likely playing a larger number of minutes at the 4 they are going to need another g/f to play 15 to 20 minutes a game. I'd look for Mo and West to get 35-40 a game, Parker to get around 30, and Boobie at 15-20.

If Green can do both of those things then he's got at least one more skill than Boobie.

That's why I'm surprised that Boobie isn't on the summer league roster. I would be playing him 40 minutes a game at PG during the summer. If Parker and Green work out as an option at SG and Boobie continues his slump I'd look for him to be stuck on the bench with West taking most of the backup PG minutes. I just remember Boobie doing a decent job when Billups was trying to post him up in the playoffs a few years ago and have to thing that he has some potential.

Denver just traded for 2 more players from Detroit, giving cash and draft pick in return. That has to increase the chances that the Cavs can get Kleisa.

Green has played well in the first 2 summer league games so far.

Magic resigned Gortat. Real god move by Orlando.

Houston would have been much better of using the MLE on Gortat and bringing back Artest. I was hoping that the Magic would lose Gortat, but I still think this was a bad off season for them.

I agree. It will be interesting to see how Vince plays on a contender, but I like Turk in the system better working the pick and roll. But I think the magic improved at the #4 spot with an underrated Ryan Anderson and bringing back Gortat is big too. It was tough losing Lee as well as right now JJ is now the 6th man off the bench unless Pietrus doesn't start.

I would be very afraid if they had kept Turk, but the bench doesn't worry me at all right now. If they go through the injury bug like most teams seem to go through at some point of the season they are going to have some major problems. The other elite teams have much deeper benches.

They will be fine at the 4 and 5, but the frontcourt and #3 are lacking in depth. They obviously still have to sign a couple more players, but I don't see them going after anyone that will really contribute a good amount. JJ will be relied on heavily this year which isn't a good thing for Magic fans.

I think the Magic are a better matchup for the Cavs now and a worse one for the Celtics.

Should the Cavs look at Tim Thomas now that he has been bought out? IIRC he is a 4 that can shoot. I don't know much about him so feel free make me feel stupid.

Bulls buy out F Tim Thomas - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

I've always liked his game....he's streaky as hell, and doesn't lack confidence when he's cold which is a bad thing....but hes a nice player off the bench. And athletic as hell, even at his age.

He seems better suited for an up and down team, so I'm not sure Cleveland would be his first choice...in all honesty, his game is very comparable to Matt Barnes. Thomas is a little bigger, and finishes at the hoop slightly better. Barnes is the better shooter, but neither are gun-shy from behind the arc.

Career average of 11.6 ppg. Decent 3pt shooter, can definitely stretch the floor in that aspect. Good at the rim as well. Never been great (former #7 pick), but could help with matchups and be a good player on the Cavs bench.

I wouldn't object.

Absolutely not to tim thomas. he's a lazy chucker than doesn't play defense. he's been run off of several teams for his laziness. he's not the kind of guy you want around a team making a title run.

also, the cavs are working out sean may in Vegas this week. He might get a vet minimum contract if he's in shape.
