Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Moon signing is official, as mentioned before this is great signing. Compare his numbers to to Ariza's and you should be very happy. His numbers are just as good or better in most categories and the Cavs didn't have to use the whole midlevel to get him.

This is easily the most excited I've ever been for an NBA season. Magic, Celtics, Lakers, Denver, San Antonio, are all going to be real good teams. I really think the Cavs are going to be the best though.

Defense is not a statistic you can easily keep track of though...and that's where Ariza makes his difference. It's still a great signing for the Cavs.

Ariza had a great post season but his regular season numbers are not anything special. Ariza has a lot more potential than Moon but as a situational player Moon is a great fit for the Cavs.

I would take Parker and Moon over Ariza. Neither are a better player, but when you consider that both contracts total what Ariza is making they will add more to the team. Now against a team like Orlando or Boston the Cavs can go with Mo, Parker, Moon, Lebron, and a big to matchup with the smaller more athletic lineups and not be undersized. I still think the Lakers and Rockets would be better teams if they hadn't swapped Artest and Ariza. I would also love to see Odom go to the Heat. Sure it makes the Heat better, but not enough to win the east and it makes the Lakers much more beatable.

I also like the rumor that the Cavs are looking at Powe. Bring him in for 1 year and see what he can do. If he fits they can use his Bird rights to resign him next year. Between Andy, JJ, Jackson, and Powe they would be pretty well at the bigs.

Agreed on all points, it would be huge for the Cavs to see Lamar go to Miami, it would really weaken the Lakers bench. The Cavs bench really failed them against Orlando in the playoffs, you can't discount how much better the bench is going to be this season. Moon, Parker, Z, JJ, Darnell, all of those guys are solid and even though I have not liked what I have seen out of Booby he still can get real hot at times. Albeit he was playing hurt all last year so this is a huge year for him. Not to mention you still have Jwad who might be able to contribute some and Green who I think is eventually going to be a great bench guy.(could get similiar minutes to Darnell last year and could easily take Boobies minutes if he doesn't step up.)

Cavs waive guard Kinsey - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

I'm actually surprised to se Kinsey get waived, but they must think that a mix of Boobie, Parker, and Green will be good enough to backup the 1 and 2. If this allows the Cavs to keep a young player that will be able to help in a year or two it will be a good move. I hope we have a lot of games this year with Boobie, Green, Moon, JJ, and Jackson finishing the game in a blowout.

Cavs must have liked what they saw out of Green in summer league enough to let him go, plus the addition of Moon really makes it easy to let him go. Might be making room to keep Jwad which would be a good move, more upside, possible back end of the rotation guy that could give some solid minutes in a year or two.

Cavaliers not done shopping; team reportedly offers contract to Grizzlies' Hakim Warrick - cleveland.com

Cavaliers not done shopping; team reportedly offers contract to Grizzlies' Hakim Warrick
by Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer

The Cavaliers' major moves are done, but the finishing touches may not be.

According to a league source, the Cavs have a contract offer out to a forward and are hoping to get an answer within the next few days. That forward is believed to be Hakim Warrick, a 6-9 athletic big man who has played the past four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The team is believed to be offering its biannual exception, which would be just under $2 million for this season, plus a player option for the 2010-11 season.

ESPN.com reported Thursday that Warrick is considering the Cavs, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers. Both the Bucks and 76ers can offer Warrick more money, and he is from Philadelphia.
What does everybody think of Warrick? Sounds like he would be a good get and more desirable than Smith or Powe. Article says he'd block Hickson since they are very similar players, but in my mind it'd be well worth it since Warrick is healthy and has proven a bit more in the league. I think the Sixers might be tough to beat though. Hopefully Warrick really wants a ring.

Hakim Warrick to Milwaukee.

99% of the time money makes the difference in professional sports, which is why I think it will be hard to get guys like Lebron, Wade, and Bosh to change teams. Most guys want to get paid rather than win. Bring in Powe and call it an off season.
