Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

You're damn right he does. It almost feels like selling your soul.

On my list of favorite Cavaliers of all time:

1. Mark Price
1a. Zydrunas Ilgauskus

Agreed. The one upside is you're getting a good character guy in Antawn which hopefully lessons the blow of losing Z. You'd have to think some Cavs are questioning moving Z out when he's finally in position for a title. Hopefully the Wizards cut him but it seems unlikely. It doesn't sound like it'd save them any money, and they'll get the cap space at the end of the season anyways so why not use him?

Here's why this move bothers me (besides the fact that I firmly believe Z deserves better):

The Cavs don't do this deal without checking with Lebron first. That would be irresponsible. So Lebron signed off on getting rid of Z??? Doesn't that fly in the face of all of this "he loves his teammates" argument people advance to say he's going to stay? I mean, he always acted like he and Z were close. Not close enough apparently...

The move makes the team better. But... man, it doesn't even taste bitter sweet. Just tastes bitter.

It just hurts seeing a career Cleveland guy moved at the highest point in Cavs history. But it does make the Cavs better, IMO. Jamison puts a 4 stretching player on thecourt when we've never had that. It should open up the lane for Shaq and LeBron in the playoffs. Z's minutes will now go to Anderson and Shaq has been resting all year for the playoff push.

One thing you can't forget about Z is he's never had another gear come playoff time. Doesn't mean I wanted to get rid of him, but he's routinely been abused in the playoffs no matter the player. You have to think that played a role in this...

i like the trade...i would be dissapointed if the trade deadline came and we could only get corey magette or troy murhpy so im pumped this went thru...i hope for Z's sake that the wizards buy him out but knowing how much the wizards hate us i wouldnt be suprised if they did not do this leaving us with somewhat of a void at center...so i guess for at least a month we get to see Shaq and verajo at center...and a plus is we get to keep hickson....jamison is old but he still has some left in the tank and we got him for 2 years...so some incentive for lebron to stay...all in all we got jamison for Z and a first rounder

I'm generally negative, so you have to excuse me. But this move is the culmination of a series of moves over 7 years to build this team around a guy (Lebron) we're not even sure wants to be here. The whole franchise changed for this guy. And now the last hold out from a time before he arrived is gone... for the sake, again, of making said guy happy.

And if it brings a championship, it's worth it. IMO. I think it improves the team. Sucks to lose Z, sure.

And look what it has done for the team. Best record in the NBA and a great shot at a title, and a very good chance of retainting said player and starting a dynasty. I'm gonna miss Z as much as you, but this move adds a solid 20 ppg, 9 rpg player, which is great production. And who's to say that Z doesn't make it back to Cleveland and get a title the year after next? I guess my point is Championship trumps all for this franchise and that's all that you can ask for out of the management.

Wow, you aren't kidding. If I was that negative all the time I'd probably kill myself.

If the Cavs win a title this year Z will get a ring.
