Nice guy....bad coach.

Really all there is to say. He mishandled the situation, and really hurt a guy who has given everything he can to Cleveland.

Sadly the right move tomorrow against the Suns would be to sit him again. I hope Mike Brown doesn't overplay Z in order to make it up to him. Even in the games he started for Shaq Z didn't look like himself this season. So far this season he looks like an old player than can come off the bench when they play another big team. He is a liability against running teams. Against teams like the Mavs, Suns, etc. they are better giving Shaq his normal 20-25 minutes and letting Andy play center the rest of the game. with Moon, Lebron, and JJ taking the PF minutes.

I know that everyone says that Lebron is not going anywhere next season:paranoid: but if I were Brown I wouldn't do little things that might irritate him and you just don't treat a guy like Z, who has gone through quite a bit over the years, like Brown treated him. He could have started him and then at the first TO put him on the bench. It was just stupid!

I understand the general concern, but he can still get the record tomorrow against the Suns, which is at home as well. This record is a total games played record, not a consecutive streak, right?

Based on this, it is safe to assume that trading Z is out of the question, since LBJ will not approve of it.

If someone makes a good offer I think you run it by Lebron and see what he says. i.e. The Raptors will give us Bosh for Z (never happen) do you want us to pull the trigger? Lebron is to smart to say no to that one.

Z himself admitted that he told brown he didn't want to play in the 2nd half when the game was in hand just as a gesture. this whole thing has been blown out of proportion for no real reason, other than primarily because people hate mike brown.

While Z would still get the record against the Suns, Z had all of his family at the game Saturday night to be there to celebrate with him. Now they have to stick around til tonight.

Imagine how pissed Z would have been if the next game would have been on the road in like Phoenix versus another home game.

Mike Brown mismanaged the situation, but would Z be any happier if he had gone in for 2 minutes in the first quarter and then sat the bench for the rest of the game? If Z had played 20 to 25 minutes against the Mavs it probably would have been a much closer game.
Unless he comes out on fire he has no business playing more than a few minutes tonight against the Suns. The Cavs seem to be at their best this season when they go small. Unfortunately for Z it means he loses minutes to guys like Moon and West. Z just needs to stay healthy and sharp for the games Shaq sits out and bigger teams like the Magic and Lakers.

This just further emphasizes Mike Brown's deficiencies. The Cavs don't need a coach, they need a manager. Somebody who can advantageously handle in-game situations and can juggle the lineup and keep everybody happy and focused. The Cavs have the personnel to go big or go small, but I don't think they have a guy who can put it in place without "losing" the players that get left out. The Cavs need somebody who can sit a guy like Z on one night and still have him buy into the fact that they are going to need him - really need him - against other teams that stand in the way of winning a championship.

but Mike Brown "gets it". He's had players mad at him before, and it just comes with the job. They'll be fine and get through it.

I agree that the team played better. I was at the game and I didn't realize Z hadn't played until halftime. I actually have no problem with the fact that Z didn't play and might not play against teams that warrant not playing him.

The ONLY problem I have is the communication of that strategy. You don't do it out of the blue. Z has earned the right to at least know beforehand that this might happen.

Exactly. How embarrassing for him to have family in from overseas, and he gets embarrassed like that. I'm sure he'd have liked a little forewarning that he may not play on a night in which he's supposed to be honored.

Well Z got his record and everyone is feeling great after a 36 to 14 first quarter. I'm sure it will still be a game, but a 19 pt lead after one looks good. I'm sure the Suns will start hitting shots shortly. They took a buzzer 3 away from Lebron at the end.
