Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

also, shaq is starting to do drills with a ball, so, he may actually be back in 6 weeks, meaning they can work him in during the 1st round series.
Which would really be the best case scenario. Big fella gets some major rest heading into the playoffs (besides the rehab work) and can be eased into the lineup in a [hopefully easy] first round series.

Cavs have seemed to coast their way to home court this year, doesn't even seem like their best effort some nights, but they win.

Playoffs will be fun to watch the team with the intensity all the way turned up. :)

My confidence is still high...but this layoff for Shaq is scary to me. He got plenty of rest during the season, only averaging around 25 mins a night. Shaq's conditioning has likely gone to hell, regardless of what the team says, and his supposed workouts in Orlando. He'll of had several months of limited cardio, which makes me nervous. Think it made the signing of Big Z even more important.

why would he have limited cardio due to a bad thumb? everyone that has seen him lately has said he looks in great shape, and he insists he's lighter now than he was before the injury. i doubt conditioning will be a big problem overall.

Positive update on Shaq last night... Sounds like he's healing ahead of schedule and "looking remarkably fit." Love that second part...

Cleveland Cavaliers' Shaquille O'Neal: Rehab of thumb injury ahead of schedule - ESPN

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal says his surgically repaired thumb is healing ahead of schedule.

Looking remarkably fit, O'Neal, who has been out since tearing a ligament in his thumb on Feb. 25 and having surgery, said he plans to resume basketball activities soon. He said his thumb is "good" and that he's looking forward to getting back on the court.
The Cavs had expected O'Neal to miss the remainder of the regular season, but the iconic superstar sounded as if he might be back before the April 14 finale at Atlanta.
"I will be ready," said O'Neal, who has kept a low profile since getting hurt.

The playoffs are why Shaq came to Cleveland. He wants the championship. I can see him working his ass off since the injury to be in the best shape that he can be in for the playoff run. It would tarnish his legacy if he was out of shape and the Cavs didn't win it all because he played like crap.

I agree exhawg...hopefully he's back sooner than later, because it would be nice to get at least a few games under his belt because then its HotLanta (more than likely) in the 2nd round...

Agreed. I don't think there's any reason to doubt Shaq's motivation or work ethic when there's a championship on the line.

No. It'll most likely be Boston or Milwaukee in the 2nd round.

Right now the seeding goes...

1. Cleveland
2. Orlando
3. Atlanta
4. Boston
5. Milwaukee

so 2nd round will be 4/5 winner which as it stands will be Boston and Milwaukee. I can't see Boston passing Atlanta, and if Milwaukee passes Boston that doesn't change our opponent for 2nd round.

I can definetley see the Bucks winning that series

definitely agree...but then again I can see Boston manning up and playing up to their potential and winning easily as well based on experience alone.
I have learned in my time watching sports that it's not a good idea to bet against really hot teams going into the postseason, and the Bucks have had the best record since January. If I had to pick I would say Boston but I think it has the potential to be a great series, like Boston-Chicago last year.
