Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

We definetley didn't have the tiebreaker against LA last year

Pretty sure we were 1-2 against the Magic as well with at least 1 really bad loss in Orlando. As long as Shaq gets healthy and knocks off all the rust before a series with the Magic I'm not worried about any matchups this year. Last year the Magic and Lakers were the worst matchups for the Cavs.

Thank god the Bobcats have played well enough to be a 6th/7th seed versus the 8th seed.

But last year everyone KNEW we didn't match up well with Orlando/Lakers last year. Heck, any good team last year for that matter.

That is the BIG difference in this year's team. Last year our only losses were to the big 4-5 teams in the league. This year we have a winning record versus teams that are title contenders (most notable exception is Denver) and most of our losses came against lower teams that we just didn't bring the energy in that game.

Yep, instead of blowing teams out of the water (remember all those 20+ point wins?) the Cavs have done more coasting this year, with a focus on beating the top teams. And they will still be the #1 seed.

They are just waiting for the playoffs to start.

The Cavs had the best record in the league last year, as well as this year. They would have home court advantage over any team in any round.

Except it's not even close to being the same team as last year. I think even you could agree the Cavs additions have made them much more prepared to take on Orlando and L.A.

Absolutely. But will more prepared = better results? We'll all find out together :wink2:

There's a difference between not wanting a matchup and being worried about it. The Bobcats might be able to take a game or two in a series, but I wouldn't be worried about the Cavs pulling out the W like I was before the Magic series last year. I don't really like the Raptors matchup in the first round either, but I don't see them being able to pull the Bulls, Bucks or Heat. As bad as the bottom of the East is this year, I think the teams are stronger than they were last year. I don't know if I see any sweeps for the Cavs this year.

I'm not sure I like sweeps any more... I think the sweeps hurt us last year... we were on fire and then had that LONG layoff waiting for Orlando... then we went cold... couple days rest.. great... over a week off... bad news

I said Tiebreaker man, as in, if hypothetically they would've finished with identical records which team would get home court. Last year it was the Lakers, this year it's the Cavs. As in last year we were 0-2 against the Lakers and this year we are 2-0, that is my point

Gotcha, I misunderstood... but again, that won't come into play though this year either just because of the gap and the amount of games left, just like it didn't last year.

If the Cavs take care of their business, they'll have home court throughout.

Agreed, basically what I'm trying to say is that the most important thing to me is that we are beating the top teams that we weren't last year.

cavs squeak one out against the bucks and the lakers get ghetto stomped by atlanta.

magic number is 2 for home court in the east and overall. even with a tough back end of the schedule, that's a pretty doable mark, especially with indiana and chicago on the schedule.

also, shaq is starting to do drills with a ball, so, he may actually be back in 6 weeks, meaning they can work him in during the 1st round series.
