Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

AV reportedly wants $10 million per. no team in their right mind will pay him that.

the cavs needs bigs in the worst way, so, a sign and trade with AV dosn't seem likely.

it's definately a buyer's market right now. the cavs should cash in on the goods they have instead of worrying about trying to get some magical FA in 2010, which likely won't happen.

Just heard on the radio some NBA guys from Sirius satellite radio were saying a possible trade with Milwaukee which I believe has absolutely no merit whatsoever but I'll throw it out there anyways... Cavs would get Redd and Villanueva, Milwaukee would get Sasha, sign and trade AV, and our 1st.

I'd like that trade, but, I don't think that'll ever happen. EVAR.

An NBA executive told the Boston Globe that the Minnesota Timberwolves is working a deal with the Phoenix Suns that would send former Celtics forward Al Jefferson and their sixth pick in next week's NBA Draft for All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire. The Suns, which have dangled Stoudemire for some time, found a suitor in Minnesota that is in transition.

That would be a terrible trade for Minnesota. I'm not even sure Stoudemire is an upgrade from Jefferson and they'd also be giving up #6.

That trade makes no sense...don't get our hopes up. There are chatters going around for Yao...which seems to me to be alot more credible. A much better move so long as he can stay healthy and make it through a playoff run. He's never played into June before so if the goal is to win a title then it is a little risky putting the stock into his knees. Plus I have no clue what we'd have to give up in order to get him. I think they'd probably want Mo or Delonte seeing how effective their fast break game was in the playoffs when they went small.

BEIJING -- Rockets center Yao Ming has called a possible move to Cleveland an "unknown" amid rumors that the Cavaliers' new Chinese part owners want to sign him.
In a recent interview with his hometown Shanghai TV station, Yao said he continued to have "much affection" for the Houston Rockets, the team that took him in the first round of the 2002 draft and with whom he has played all six of his NBA seasons.

I've already been with Houston for such a long time, I still have much affection for this team.
” -- Center Yao Ming
Yao has not won a championship, but said Houston's drive to the second-round of the playoffs this year had given him hope that the Rockets can contend next season.
Rumors of a possible move to Cleveland have swirled since a group of Chinese investors signed an agreement last month with the Cavaliers to become minority owners. The move is expected to boost the team's popularity and marketing opportunities in China, where Cleveland star LeBron James is very popular.
"This is all an unknown," Yao said in the interview, a transcript of which was posted online Friday.
"I've already been with Houston for such a long time, I still have much affection for this team," he said. "Moreover, this past season we were very successful, and that let me see some hope."
Cleveland has not publicly expressed interest in Yao, who has one guaranteed year left on his contract with Houston, including a player option for the 2010-11 season.
Yao broke his troublesome left foot in Game 3 of the second-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers, the eventual champions.
The lure of a championship remains strong and Yao conceded to feeling jealous of fellow China national team member Sun Yue, who played for the Lakers.
"There's a little bit of envy," Yao said. "If I didn't have feel even some jealousy, then I'm afraid that really would make me a little too much of a slacker."

I approve of that deal. You could even still move Wallace for better help up front.

not to mention the fact that stoudamire is likely a PF in any system that isn't Phx's run and gun, and minny is fairly stacked with PF/C tweeners as it is. seems like a dumb move for minny overall, giving up a very good young PF, who is locked for the next 4 years for an oft injured PF that's a free agent, isn't likely to stay healthy, and is an unknown playing in any other system outside of the run and gun.

i call farce.

The Minny/PHX trade was refuted yesterday. I don't know if it was rehashed earlier today, but that deal isn't being discussed, according to the Minny front office.

Not that it was a smart idea for the T-woofs in the first place, I think they'd have to find a way to make it an even worse idea before Kevin McHale would think about pulling the trigger on it.

Bucks just dumped a lot of salary today and have expiring contracts for next. Redd and Villanueva aren't going anywhere.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Tarence Kinsey charged with DUI in Tampa
by Staff reports

Wednesday June 24, 2009, 10:30 AM

TAMPA - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Tarence Kinsey Jr. has been charged with driving under the influence, Tampa police told tbo.com (Tampa Bay Online).

Kinsey, a high school standout at Tampa's Jefferson High School, was arrested at 3:38 a.m. this morning while driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone in his 2005 Bentley, according to the report.

Kinsey joined the Cavs as a free agent in August 2008. In 50 regular season games this season, he averaged 2 points per game. He has a $995,000 non-guaranteed contract with the Cavs for the 2009-10 season

The trades, it seems, were aimed to free up money to re-sign restricted free agents Ramon Sessions and Charlie Villanueva. The Cavs are said to be targeting Villanueva, a young and talented power forward, as an option to get younger on their front line depth. It was believed that the Bucks might be willing to let Villaneuva go because of their deep salary commitments. Now those have been eased.

The Wizards, meanwhile, traded the No. 5 pick in the draft and forwards Etan Thomas, Darius Songalia and Oleksiy Pecherov to Minnesota for guards Randy Foye and Mike Miller.

The Wizards were listening to numerous pitches for the No. 5 pick and now the Timberwolves have both the No. 5 and No. 6 picks and will likely look to further deal.
There are talks on Cleveland.com that the Cavaliers are looking to move up in the draft and now with Minnesota having the #5 and #6 pick them might have just gotten a little bit easier.

I too am hopeful they will trade up to grab another pick by taking on a bad contract or straight up buting one for 3 mil.

I think Charlie V is definitely open to coming to Cleveland as I am a follower of his on Twitter(CV31) and he posted a video of LeBron and asked if his followers thought he could help sarcastically. I think the MLE is still about all the Bucks are willing to pay him which is good for us. If I was in a situation where contract is equal and I would likely start in either situation I would chose the championship contender.

I'm not sure that he will be cut because he has talent, but he is more likely to be used as a filler in a trade as his contract is relatively miniscule and I believe it is nonguranteed or partially like Sasha's.

Naw, this isn't the NFL. If anything that probable gave him more street cred

Yeah, at this point I will be disappointed if they don't trade up.

Just give me some Earl Clark and I will be very happy
