Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

Naw, this isn't the NFL. If anything that probable gave him more street cred

Yeah, at this point I will be disappointed if they don't trade up.

Just give me some Earl Clark and I will be very happy

windhorst has stated that it would take cash considerations, jawad williams non-guaranteed contract, and a 2010 1st to get up into the lottery area, plus this year's #30. for a team with several picks and cap issues, it's a good deal.

I would be extremely happy with Clark but I also would not mind Sam Young. Saw enough Pittsburgh games on TV that I think he would give us the needed size against guys from Orlando plus he has a nice medium range jumpshot.

Yeah, Young would fit nicely too. As long as they can trade up to get a quality 6'6-6'10 swingman that can defend on the perimeter and knock down an open shot I will be happy with. There are a few of them in this draft, but they will all be long gone by the time it gets close to pick #30.

Which is why I would be pissed if they can't move up. There are a few athletic wingmen available this year in the 10-20 pick range, we just have to make sure we can grab one of them.

i'm one of hte few that isn't enamoured with sam young. he's considered to be a bit of a project and a rotational guy right now and he'll be 25 by the time the season starts. not much of a ceiling.
I don't know I think he is a pretty good player. Not star quality but can do a lot of things pretty well. At the age of 25, he won't be immature and really how long a life span do NBA players have with one team any way. He would not be by a first selection but I would be okay with him starting at #15. Above that, not so sure.

I think the draw here is his size and tough as nails personality. He'd be a great rotation guy against Hedo or Rashard.

I feel like a lot of what we may do, is entirely based on Orlando. I'm kind of concerned we overreact to the playoff series loss, and focus solely on how to beat Orlando. It isn;t as if we sucked last year.

Should be interesting to see what happens over the next day and a half.

I'm pretty leery about the possible acquisition of Shaq. There are a lot of other directions I'd rather see them go.

Draft buzz: Cavs closer to getting Shaq? - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

Phoenix center Shaquille O?Neal is creeping closer to joining the championship chase with LeBron James, league sources said on Wednesday. The Shaq-to-Cleveland trade talks have gained momentum and Cavaliers officials are nearing the conclusion they should make the move for O?Neal, sources said. Now, they have to find the package that?ll work with Phoenix.
One league executive says there?s an ?inevitability? to the talks and that, ?It?s going to get done.?
Nevertheless, there are still hurdles. Besides taking Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic, Phoenix wants Cleveland to surrender cash and future draft picks. Both teams have tried to find a third team to get involved, but with no luck yet.

Cleveland and Phoenix are both juggling multiple trade possibilities with other teams, with the Cavs involved with as many as six trade scenarios.

Suns agree to send Shaq to Cavs - CBSSports.com

Finally ending a four-month flirtation on the eve of the NBA draft, the Phoenix Suns agreed Wednesday night to send O'Neal to the Cavaliers in exchange for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, the 46th pick, and cash considerations, a person familiar with the agreement confirmed to CBSSports.com. "Very much agreed to," is how the source described the talks, which have been on and off since the February trade deadline.

Lebron and Shaq on the same team is gonna be a lot of fun to watch. Cant wait for the season to start already.

I'm mostly excited for pre-game introductions. Should be taken to new levels. I like Shaq come playoff time though. As I suggested earlier in this thread, Z and Shaq can split minutes, and hopefully bpth are fresh come playoff time.

Z has enevr been able to step his game up to the next level, so he can become the best backup center in the league. Split minutes with Shaq, and let Shaq lay his weight in the playoffs. I doubt there is a better center combo in the NBA now....

And don't listen to Mark Jackson and his stupid ass analysis. Shaq certainly gives the Cavs an ability to guard the Orlando pick and roll. You can put Shaq on Dwight and let him play one on one. You couldn't do that with Z. Shaq at the 5 with LeBron at the 4 gives Cleveland a look they couldn't prudce with Z at the 5 because Z couldn't guard Howard straight up.
