Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

How doesn't he do anything for us? It gives us a legit post offensive player, it allows Z to come off the bench. The combo of the two allows us to play each 24+ minutes to keep them fresh and healthy. While Shaq has seen his better days he still is a defensive presence.

So he would add alot to this team. It would add more swagger to this team and a guy that knows how to win it all.

If you give up Pavs and wally you lose backcourt depth, and then you have a contract in Wallace that serves no point on your team, and Shaq clogs the lane for LBJ...Z can step out and hit a jumper where Shaq can not, and LBJ does not have a jump shot yet to not have to play an inside out game with a big man, he needs the pick n pop bick guy, much like Jordon had with guys like Longley, Wenington, Grant, et...

At least they're still after someone to play the 4 or 5. It's going to be either Mikki Moore or Joe Smith. We've all heard the Smith to Boston rumors but he's also on the record saying he'd be interested in the Cavs. Since the Cavs can offer more than the C's, I'd prefer Smith, but I do remember how well Moore played for the Nets in the playoffs 2 years ago.

Uh oh, KG got hurt last night. I didn't hear the extend but Chris Broussard said it didn't look too good. Hopefully it's not too bad and he misses just enough games for the Cavs to pass them.

I give you losing Pavs and Wally would have been tough to the backcourt depth. I also agree that getting Shaq would have some negatives(changing the offensive style a bit). But the positives would be fun

How about an inside out game with Mo & Shaq? Then having LBJ moving free and slashing to the basket as a 3rd option (on that play) Or LBJ does his screens with Andy but when Shaq's man leaves to clog the middle, now LBJ is passing to Shaq to finish next to the basket? It's not like Shaq's guy can freelance near the basket cuz if he leaves Shaq for help defense you are leaving him open for a thunderous dunk.

Plus defensively Shaq has an intimidating presence to clog the middle. Afterall, Mike Brown preaches that defense wins championships.

But more importantly... c'mon... How FUN would it be for LeBron and Shaq to be on the same team? Ok, maybe not important... but dang that would be fun.

I'd be happy with either of those 2 if they can get them. Both are the same age so that isn't a factor. Moore is 2 inches taller.

Cleveland's MLE is 5.1Mill, while Boston can only go to 2.3Mill. Moore is taller, but Smiths offensive game is much better. It sounds like 1 goes to Boston and 1 to Cleveland. I think Boston is after Moore. I'm not sure but I think Cleveland would prefer Smith.

I guess it comes down to playing out A'mare's contract or trying to get anything of value in return.

If you're Phoenix, you're paying the guy 15 mil, and going nowhere with him. And you aren't going to resign him in 2010. I think the dumb move is paying him 15 mil for 2 more seasons, not even in contention to win a championship, and then letting him walk in 2010.

At least if you trade for Hickson and Wally, you've got an expiring contract and 15 mil to begin rebuilding immediately. Plus a 19 or 20 year old PF in JJ Hickson, with great upside. Add in a first round pick, and Phoenix is already a lot further along in the rebuilding process.

The only alternative is to trade A'mare next year, and hope for better value. But I don't think the package Cleveland is offering is that bad...especially when Phoenix is going nowhere, and they can use Wally's contract this off-season however they want.

I think we can all agree however, that whatever the right move is, Steve Kerr will do exactly the opposite. Every move that guy has made has fallen flat on its face.

I nailed that one. Every decesion Kerr makes ends up being the wrong choice. Obviously not his fault that Amare was poked in th eye, but Kerr can't catch a break.

I bet he'd like to have Hickson right about now....

A couple of other names that are being mentioned.

The Cavs would mostly be in the market for a backup big man, and already some options are developing. After making two trades this week, the Sacramento Kings released veteran big man Mikki Moore on Thursday.

Former Cav Joe Smith, who was traded to the Hornets before the deal was rescinded Wednesday, is expected to seek a buyout from the Thunder within the next week. Though reports have indicated the Boston Celtics will pursue Smith, a league source said if Smith can get a buyout, he will consider the Cavs. In December, Smith said he'd have interest in going back to Cleveland if he became a free agent.

In addition, there are some other names. The Cavs may consider Earl Barron, a versatile big man who played for the Miami Heat last season, as a free agent. Also, a league insider said on Thursday that veteran big man Robert Horry has not ruled out returning this season, and he has a relationship with Cavs General Manager Danny Ferry.

Then they pissed around and let them right back in the game...It was crazy watching LBJ...The degree of difficulty on some of those shots was a 10 and they were deep...He stopped being agressive tho, and then the other guys were caught standing and watching...

Hopefully he comes in with about 9 left in the fourth and has a big fourth quarter...

Villanueva is a straight thug. Drags Andy down from behind by the face and then chokes Z when he comes to Andy's defense. Have fun paying the fine and missing a game or two bitch.

He's gonna get about a week off basketball to concentrate on growing some fucking eyebrows.
