Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

They want future picks for him, and you can bet your ass, they're going to try to get a first. They need to make room for Rudy Fernandez, Oden and their first round pick next season.

He's not a Pritchard pick so that's another reason he's on the block.

Do you really want a guy that is described as "turnover prone" ?

The Cavs have first rounders in '08 and '09. Those need to be kept. Fuck Jiri Welsch for a first. Thay can't make a stupid mistake like that again.

They can't offer a second in '08 because they don't have one, while Portland already has 3.

I'd rather have Steve Blake than Jack anyway.

I think i'd rather get everyone healthy and go with that group in the playoffs, than to make a trade that would have minimal effect on the team.

Obviously I am not for giving up draft picks and I have said we don't have anything that I would give up and do this trade...

I was just merely pointing out that if there was a way to steal Jack as they are trying to move him, for say some contracts, like Snow, Newble, DJ, Brown, etc then I do it...I don't give up the better players on the team, but Portland has Rodriquez and Blake so they can almost afford to get rid of Jack for contracts...

I'm with you, especially if we could steal Jack. I just wonder where his minutes would come from. Amon Ones, would lose some, perhaps Newble would go back to the bench, but I think his defense could be useful in the playoffs.

How is Jack's defense?

I'm not sure about the numbers, but it seems like the team defense has picked up considerably since the New Year. I'll have to check that out.

I've dogged Larry Hughes as much as anyone, while you've defended him as much as anyone, but is he starting to play like expected? His numbers the last 11 games are very nice:

19.3pts 45%fg, 42%-3fg, 80%ft, 5rb, 2.5 apg, 1.5spg and 1.5 to.
In those 11 games, he failed to reach double figures only once. If you take out his highest and lowest scoring games in that span, he's still averaging 18.3pts. If he keeps it up, it could cause big problems for teams in the playoffs.

Sasha has sucked all year, so I'm not expecting much from him when he comes back.

Good luck to Gibby in the 3 point contest. Surely he can do better than Jones did last year!!!

I think that Jack coudl play the point and slide Larry to the two more...You could go with a lineup of Jack, Larry, LBJ or you could go with a lineup of Jack Boobie, Larry when LBJ sits...

He would take away from Newble having to see the court...It would give us more of a pg at the point, and Larry could do more off the ball, and same with Boobie...Then you would also have guys like Larry and Boobie that could man the point if needed, so you don't have to depend on DJ if he starts to struggle shooting the ball or struggles on D...

Jack is also a scorer if needed so with LBJ with him he could find a way to get points as well...

As for defending Larry I just merely point out all the time that we are better with him than without him, and espescially if he is playing like he has been lately...

As for Sasha I am not ready to give up on him as well...He is a very good defender when he plays hard, and he is another scoring option if he is playing well...His last game when he got hurt was by far his best game he had all year...He struggled getting back after the long holdout...Don't think he was working as hard as Andy was in his off time...

Either way don't see us having the pieces to get anyone in a trade, but I think that are team is very solid, and if healthy and guys play as capable, and LBJ is on the team, there aren't any teams that I think we couldn't beat...

MVP of the All-Star game and Rookie/Sophomore challenge...

Also many people are counting us out as well...Have no problem playing the underdog role in the East like we did last year...
I think Cleveland, Boston, and Detroit all have a good chance of winning the East with Boston being a slight favorite. I don't think any teams in the East can beat these three teams. Orlando is not that good and would lose to all three of these teams in a 7 game series and would have a tough time with Toronto as well. Hell, if Washington gets hot they can beat Orlando too.

Boobie with 13 minutes thru 3 quarters...WTF is that...Especially when our offense is struggling...

That's our boy Mike Brown at his best. Why did he get an extension?????

If he has a job as an NBA coach, then the rest of us are serious underachievers.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CLEVELAND -- The Cavaliers, with the exception of LeBron James, of course, took an extended All-Star break that stretched into last night's game against Houston.
The result: The Rockets controlled the game from start to finish and posted a 93-85 victory.
