Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

Draft time, I want a shooter.

Somebody thats always a threat and can hit the shots.

I don't care what position at this point, just a legit. scorer, hell, they don't even have to play defense.

LeBrons so damn versatile, we could get another SF and he'd mold, cause he's godly like that.

I missed the game, cause it was only on FSN OH, and the Bucks were playing, but Manu being on fire, and playing what still is a top 2 team, I'm not disappointed.

I disagree with this thinking...Of course we want a guy that can shoot, but we also don't want just a one dimensional guy...We already have that in a guy like Damon Jones and that isn't what this team needs...We need a late round steal like a Carlos Boozer, Josh Howard type that can become an all-star...

Don't want a guy that can shoot and not play defense because then Mike Brown would never play him...I wouldn't mind a PG that could distribute the ball take guys off the dribble, play defense, run the break...Very hard to get one late in the draft...

If we go SG need a long guy that isn't a liability on defense, because we already have Boobie who can come off the bench and play PG/SG...A guy like Sasha, but needs to be more of a consistent player...

I don't see us going PF because we already have a servicable combo in Wild Thing and Gooden but if we could get one we take him...

Chris Douglas-Roberts , sg Memphis 6'7 , long wingspan, good defender,
16.9pts, 54%fg, 46% 3fg, 68%ft, 4.4 rb. If available , I'd jump all over him.

Maybe that 40 pt game gave Hughes some confidence. He just played his best back to back games as a Cav. After all I've bashed him, I'll give him his due when he plays good, especially in consecutive games. It would be a big help for the team if he could continue to play with confidence after the rest of the team gets back to health.

They were playing some good D on Ginobili last night. He just kept hitting that step back jumper with guys in his face. He was on fire.

Ginobili's shooting spree leaves Cavs defenseless

The Spurs' Manu Ginobili grabs a rebound against the Cavaliers' Donyell Marshall.

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden recently said facing the San Antonio Spurs is similar to playing against his team's big brothers. The Cavs run many of the same plays, they have adopted the Spurs' defense-first mentality, and coach Mike Brown is a former pupil of San Antonio coach Greg Popovich.
The big brother had the upper hand last night in the Spurs' 112-105 win over the Cavaliers. Including a four-game sweep of the NBA Finals last season, the Spurs (34-17) won their fifth straight game over the Cavs (29-23).

I remember being at an event with an Indians exec forever ago... and him giving me a dose of common sense regarding trades

He said people get upset when you trade away talent... but other teams don't give you their talent for your trash... they want talent for talent.. you gotta give away someone good to get someone good...

and he also told me, there are times you both exchange your dredges hoping that maybe change of venue will make a difference.. and it's a last resort

he said to think any differently than this, means one of the trading partners is an idiot and there aren't idiots doing the trading

to which I replied "what about Ted Stepien" which made him spit his drink in laughter

I'd take Lowry in a package deal with Miller. I think he could develop into a good floor general, but his defense is very good right now although his outside shot is weak. But like I said, if we could get him with Miller in a package deal... Miller would be dangerous with Lebron, as he is one of the more underrated players in the game in my opinion. He's averaging almost 17 pts and 6.6 boards per game. With Larry playing better, he could be part of the package which could be a great deal for the Cavs.

They would want a first. Forget that. They want future picks not bodies.

No interest in Lowry.

Not sure if they would want a number one...They are already a very young team...

They already have Roy, Oden, Aldridge, Outlaw, Frye, Webster, Rodriguez, they also have Taurean Green and McRoberts on the bench...

Their oldest players are Blake and James Jones with 4 years experience and Pryzbilla with 7 years...

We don't really have any vets that would interest them IMO...Most teams want Gooden if they want anyone and he isn't a vet, and not sure he would help them that much, especially considering they have Frye, Aldridge, and Pryzbilla and will have Oden back next year...

They want future picks for him, and you can bet your ass, they're going to try to get a first. They need to make room for Rudy Fernandez, Oden and their first round pick next season.

He's not a Pritchard pick so that's another reason he's on the block.

Do you really want a guy that is described as "turnover prone" ?

The Cavs have first rounders in '08 and '09. Those need to be kept. Fuck Jiri Welsch for a first. Thay can't make a stupid mistake like that again.

They can't offer a second in '08 because they don't have one, while Portland already has 3.

I'd rather have Steve Blake than Jack anyway.

I think i'd rather get everyone healthy and go with that group in the playoffs, than to make a trade that would have minimal effect on the team.
