Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

LeBron, Gibson and Varejeo. The rest of those fuckers can walk off a plank into shark infested waters. Well, I'll let Z stay on the ship, but screw the rest.
I'd rather not bring anyone else aboard if it will cost more money in the long run, unless it means getting rid of Hughes, Snow or Amon Ones.

I'm close to draft watching time.

Hughes, Simmons, and cash to Washington for Daniels, and Thomas (both will be off the books the same time as Hughes and Thomas seems to be in the dog house).

Newble, Marshall, Shannon Brown, and more cash to Philly for Miller and any stiff they want to throw in. Newble and Brown are off the books for Philly this year, Marshall next year same as Miller if the Cavs wouldn't resign him.

Sign Boykins for the rest of the season so he can showcase for next season.

Cavs starting lineup: Andre Miller, Gibson/Daniels, Lebron, Gooden, Z

And for my in my dreams trade:
Z and Gooden to Memphis for Gasol and Conley. :p

Right now the only Cavs that will probably be on the books when Lebron's contract is up are Gibson, and maybe Gooden and Varejao. That will give the Cavs room to sign at least 2-4 players for decent money before resigning current players.

I can't even watch these fucksticks anymore without wanting to punch a hole in the wall. I'd like to wish a merry christmas to hughes and Pavs, the two most worthless players on the team. Keep earning those fat paychecks assholes.

Well, much better second half after a horrible first half. Boobie needs to be shooting 15 times a game, it's beyond me how Mr. Potatohead can't figure this out.

Hughes update: 2-7, 4 points. :slappy:

Might have to add Pavs to that update, he's been as bad as Hughes all year.

Cavaliers 96 Heat 82
James, defense deliver victory

Wednesday, December 26, 2007 3:03 AM
By Tom Withers

ASSOCIATED PRESS

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James winced as he pressed the ice bag tightly against his swollen jaw.

On Christmas, he felt lucky to still have his two front teeth.
"I got elbowed by Shaq in the face, which is not a good thing," James said. "Ever."
James shook off the big man's blow to the head and scored 25 points, Drew Gooden had 18 and Cleveland's defense arrived in time for the holiday, lifting the struggling Cavaliers to a 96-82 win over the Miami Heat yesterday.
James added 12 assists and outshined fellow superstar Dwyane Wade, who scored 22 points but didn't make his first field goal of the second half until there was only 4:01 remaining.

Cleveland Cavaliers need guard Daniel Gibson in starting lineup, says Terry Pluto

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

The Cavaliers desperately needed a game like this, a game where they win big at home, where some outside shots actually go in and where their defense shows up.
But coach Mike Brown should not think that his lineup change of starting guard Larry Hughes over Daniel Gibson had anything to do with his team's 96-82 victory against Miami.
Brown is looking for a way to revive his backcourt of a year ago, when Hughes and Sasha Pavlovic were 17-6 near the end of the regular season. The problem is last year is history, and so is Pavlovic's jump shot.

CAVALIERS INSIDER
James wants fixing brought to table

Wednesday, December 26, 2007 Branson Wright
Plain Dealer Reporter
Cavs star LeBron James cooled down enough to speak with the media before Tuesday's game at Quicken Loans Arena. James did not speak after Sunday's humiliating 105-96 loss to the Golden State Warriors at The Q.
"I didn't feel like speaking to anybody," James said. "Nobody . . . I've said enough."
There has not been much to say about the Cavs, a team that was one of the league's best defensively last season but has lost its way.

Wizards not interested in re-acquiring Hughes

Wednesday, Dec 26, 2007 6:30 am EST

According to various reports, former Washington Wizard Larry Hughes has been placed on the trading block by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hughes, who left Washington to sign a five-year deal worth between $65 million and $70 million with Cleveland in the summer of 2005, has struggled to play at the level he displayed with the Wizards during the 2004-05 season.
Hughes has battled injuries, complained about his role in Coach Mike Brown's offense and this season is shooting a career-worst 33.8 percent. He was also booed during Sunday night's home loss to Golden State.
The Wizards are reportedly among the teams that have been contacted about possible interest in Hughes, but the Wizards have no interest.

Well if the Wizards won't take him the Cavs don't have a chance to move him. We need to get him to give Arenas a call and get this trade done. I'm not sure if Etan Thomas will be able to return from heart surgury, but I'd take him and Antonio Daniels for Larry. Even if you buy out Thomas you are still saving money for a player that is going to bring pretty much the same game as Hughes.

I can't imagine anybody wanting Hughes. He is 100% worthless. The cavs are stuck with him.

I agree, but Arenas loves Hughes for some reason so I was holding out hope that they could ship him back to Washington. We all would be better off right now if Hughes had taken the larger deal that Washington offered him after the Cavs gave him everything they could. Even as bad as he is playing right now they Cavs might be better off with him and Gibson in the starting lineup than Pavlovic. They must really be afraid that Pavs will lose all confidence if they bench him.

Cavs outmuscle Mavericks
Good defense gives Cleveland its first win in Dallas since 2000
By Brian Windhorst
Beacon Journal sportswriter

Published on Friday, Dec 28, 2007
DALLAS: It's been quite a struggle, but the Cavaliers are starting to find some traction.
It's too early and the Cavs too inconsistent for anything to be labeled a statement win, but they got themselves a confidence win on Thursday. Again relying on their trusty old friend, defense, the Cavs were able to grind out an 88-81 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
The Cavs held the Mavs, who were fighting some tired legs coming off a loss Wednesday night in Utah, to just 37 percent shooting in the game and did it with an excellent display of defensive teamwork. Their rotations were in sync and the individual defensive performances, especially on Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki, were strong.
Overall, it was the first time the Cavs have won in north Texas since 2000 and the first time ever they'd left the American Airlines Center with a pep in their step. Those historical facts, though, meant much less than the current momentum the Cavs (14-16)
might be building.

Hughes played some point last night and was not horrible. Well, for him he was not horrible. He still shot only 40%, but for him, 40 is the Mendoza line, which he rarely crosses. Brown should tell him to NEVER shoot a 3. He hasn't made one since the 8th grade picnic but continues to chuck them up. The only way they can find a sucker to take him is if he could string together some consistently decent nights, perhaps 7 out of 10 games. Highly unlikely.

Gooden seems to be back to his same old retarted self. He should NEVER have less than double digits, but has has singles in 6 of the last 10 games. He has a cheap salary, buy I'm not sure he's even worth that. Brown should seriously consider sending him to the bench to start games for a while. Maybe that will light a fire under his Arab-looking ass.

Hey, they won in Dallas!!!

Anyone know why Newble is getting pt this year after having his ass welded to the bench all last season? Are they using him to try to trade him since he's an expiring contract?
